Hey guys, I just picked up my 23 Supra and I want to have an alignment done on it before I really drive it. My alignment guy says new supras are not in his system. Can he do the alignment as a Z4 (or another bmw model?)

Please advise. Thanks!

No Supras or just the 2023 model? If they have 20-22 Supra, just use that.

Or just print this out and give them this, straight from the shop manual.

I think you might want to go to a shop that has at least 20~22 supra. it is a sign that the shop is not due diligent on recent information and cutting on the cost by not updating their system. I get that they may have to pay few thousands to update but if they haven't updated it, it also a sign that they are not making enough money on alignment to cover the cost - not performing alignment often enough - or they are just cheap - perhaps cheap mechanics as well? then again, i could be completely wrong about that shop since I haven't been there..

Or just tell them the alignment you want? I know, weird idea.
Id be willing to bet if they are not updating their sw then their techs are most likely the "put the black arrow in the green" and have no clue how to read that spec sheet you posted...

Love it! My two alignment shops are down in Ft. Myers. One has to be rebuilt, the other on generator power only and really backed up. So I went to a place where I had to be specific what I wanted and copied @razorlab specs on his build page (also having SPL parts and lowered). So it won’t be exactly perfect for my car but at least I can use razorlabs… Thank you bro!

Is there a good source for a PDF version of the 2021 model year shop manual? I honestly don't care to just buy it myself if it's available for purchase, but this kind of stuff tends to find its way to the Internet so I thought I would check first.

So time to go to a real shop.
My exact problem right now after a direct hit hurricane (not since 1960 ?) and all the good shops got wiped out. Track day in Sebring Oct. 20&21. Doing the razorlab setup for now and another more advanced shop back online next week. To recheck, ensure my SPL parts are locked down and with the track tires instead. Two days b4 track day. Gonna be tight!

Mine is at the BMW dealer right now as we speak. They said they have all the specs for the 2022. So... I'm keeping her spec caster, 1 degree positive toe front, -1 negative in the rear and -2.5 degrees camber front/rear. Until I can throw her around a bit on track. I'll mess with it again after my 1st Supra track weekend. Right now, I'm just happy BMW took me in last minute and had a tech that was mega familiar with racing (and my mechanic). Appreciate all of @razorlab sheets and workup. Good to have some baseline confidence with any new car.

Edit: The BMW dealer had “issues” beyond spec. Luckily I found a race shop that did the updated specs above. For now until more SPL parts get applied.

I'm keeping her spec caster and toe but added -2.5 degrees rear and -4 degrees front camber for now. Until I can throw her around a bit on track. I'll mess with it again after my 1st Supra track weekend. I'll probably do more later and throw some toe out up front for better turn in. I first read that as zero toe rear and I was about to respond with "have fun drifting that thing around the course!"

lol
