I agree that power isn't everything on a racing circuit so "fast enough" is a much lower bar. For street cars that's entirely the opposite, we live in the land of mid-single-digit 60-130 times on the street and a JB4 isn't gonna get even close for that kind of fast.

You lost me at eblend, fine for track folks but the rest of us live in the real world. Middle school science projects every time you need to refuel is silly. True flex tune or 93(91) for those that aren't unlocked. Same goes for meth, amazing how many folks do blend tunes and meth for street cars, maximum effort with high risk and minimal reward.

After 500tq @ 2500rpm everything spins on the street which means slow. HP wins races and these things don't rev. I'll be impressed when someone runs a properly sized turbo (peak hp @ peak rev) on 93 with a JB4 but that can't happen.

I assume you track for fun, so the Supra is fine. I see people bring mustangs to the track, they also have fun. Neither in stock form will perform very well.

I will say that the Supra « can » be made into a track machine, but it’s not near-stock

There are hundreds of owners who would disagree. I forget, does the car come with a free day at the drags strip or is it a circuit? I can't remember.

So you're advocating activities for which many States will seize your car? Or you'll end up all over social media after killing a family at an intersection? Your goal is to do illegal shit better? Oof.

Yes I am, because time and place determine safety as much as location. This isn’t the fifties when road studies were done for speed limits. We have had seventy years of tire and car development. Our laws and culture are the equivalent of the Cro-Magnon man by comparison so I choose. A lifetime (thousands) of 60-130 pulls when discretion is used is no more dangerous than the daily traffic I sit in going into Boston every morning. We can all stop pretending with the holier than thou stuff. We all know the ones killing families at intersections are kids, usually have little experience behind the wheel and almost always involve substances. Wisdom prevails, laws protect those without it. ;)

Back on the Supra, as a circuit track driver, how are you feeling about the very over-square diesel B58? Can’t wait for a rich dude to pull the trigger on a de-stroked crank to show the potential and powerband of a 2.6ish liter. Tq down low is an unfortunate side effect of the shared platform on this engine. Hampering revs and a linear powerband. Notice the S55 and S58 deemed “performance “ engines are at least close to square.

Your first paragraph is very concerning as you try to double down. That's some serious cognitive dissonance to justify your actions. Of course there's a difference between finding a back road with zero chance of a random person/car becoming involved and doing it on a busy highway. Not to mention that it's almost impossible to find roads that can safely fit two cars side by side without any significant danger to others. When I was remote tuning my JB4 I have a place to test when it's empty, but that's an entirely different scenario to racing. Funny though that literally all the roll races I've seen videos of recently are on busy or travelled highways. And to modify a car with the primary intention of doing those activities more often and at higher speeds... Honestly you should evaluate your thoughts.

For the track you just have to control your right foot a bit more but coming out of turns the torque is nice. The car is probably the most track capable you can buy for under $90k.

The Supra is « not » made for a track or straight line roll racing at all. These are "show up and chill in the parking lot for boba or get random people asking you questions at a gas station" style cars
Yeah, this.
