Seems to me like you don't understand DNS.

The issues is objectively not CloudFlare, it's the underlying DNS server that was failing to respond.

Cloudflare doesnt work that way. The site is cloud hosted behind a load balancer/wap which has the IP (usually via CNAME), and then routes the request by hostname to the proper internally hosted site.

I knew about the CNAME. Had bunch of websites over the years. latest being the WordPress for Supra supramkv.parts that I never published.. Did I mention I'm terribly sleep deprived
