I hope it will take some styling cues from this Lexus concept. It just screams modern-day A80 to me.

Those proportions are almost spot on. Especially the hood line. Look at where the hood sinks towards the front, a V6TT would sit almost perfectly behind the the peak point. If Toyota gets an inline six in there, then that will be a feat of engineering.

Just want to make things clear for everyone, I do not have any official answers as to what motor will be in the new platform…these are just my “predictions” based on mostly reliable sources.

The best engine possibility isn't Mazda's I6 or their 3.5TT, it's if they make their own I6 from their G16E. That engine is built for performance first, if they add on another 3 cylinders, a 3.2LT I6 easily seeing 400hp+ in base format. Heck they can get somewhere around 600hp if they wanted since the GRC has 300hp. I think that's a great possibility but an expensive investment they likely won't take.

I would love to see another straight six from Toyota, however, there are no signs pointing to a major revamp or investment in a completely new engine architecture. Honestly, the V6TT is a gem! If they reinforce that V6TT and add hybrid, it will be one badass whip! The only way I see them incorporating an inline six is if it gets pushed back further into the firewall, yet where would the hybrid sandwich go? Also, from what I know, the height of the front end on the mules is almost exactly of that picture above….making an inline type engine almost impossible to fit. Let’s hope for the best and I too am all for a straight six…I just won’t hold my breath for one.

Don't they already have the GR010 engine at their disposal, though?

The Toyota H8909 3.5L turbo-hybrid engine is a whole other monster. That thing is capable hitting north of 900 horsepower (but is only capped at 670).

But the engine that was in the GR Super Sport was the TS050 Hybrid 2.4L which made 1000 horsepower. Could they use that? That would be an interesting proposition.

Both those engines might pose street car re-engineering challenges similar to those which Mercedes had when they worked to homologate an F1 style engine for street duty in their AMG ONE hybrid hypercar.

Impressive car in person but even though it is "street legal" it's nowhere near as easy to use every day (assuming someone afforded it in the first place) as is a Toyota Supra or even a Lexus LFA.

Anything is possible... but I don't think any direct use of either of those engines in anything but an extremely limited production hypercar class Lexus vehicle would happen.

Does the Toyota H8909 idle as high as the Mercedes-Benz PU106B Hybrid? Also I think idling shouldn't be as big of an issue given that the power unit is in electric mode at low speeds. They could implement that in their road cars.

I'm still extremely burned over the fact that the GR Super Sport is not going be produced.

Excited to see what Yamaha’s involvement with the upcoming strategy will be. Considering their heavy involvement in the LFA (engine, acoustics, etc…), very hopeful for their efforts in the new offering.

ETA on one of the cars has to be in like what... 1-2 years at this point right?

They need to replace the RC F GT3 for the 2024 IMSA season. Lexus hasn't shown any signs of wanting to build another RC (yet) so it has to be the LFR? Or will the IMSA effort be done under Toyota now?

If Toyota were going to sell ANY hypercar on the same level as the AMG ONE it would have certainly been the road-legal version of the GR Super Sport that they cancelled.

No idea if the idle for the GR SS or any other of those Toyota race engines is as high as it is for the AMG ONE.
