Weren't 'finer materials' part of the agreement?
I have no idea...but I thought Tada said something along the lines of no exotic materials would be used in the chassis construction to cut costs...but that might not apply to interior?? Someone feel free to chime in on that if they know.

Not sure if anyone caught this earlier (I apologize if it's a repost) but, carbon fiber bits in the interior??

Probably just the drivers phone with a carbon fiber cover :dunno::banghead:
Would be cool if at the debut the complete interior is changed up and has a more driver focused interior and somewhat MKIVish... we can dream right?!?!

I wish you would stop with the incessant whining. You know diddly squat about business.

The MKIV sold around 12k TOTAL! in the US over 6 years. And that's the one that's been elevated to cult status. While I am sure Toyota does want to please fans, it is far more important for this car to appeal to people who were children when the MKIV was available for sale and/or maybe don't even care about the MKIV. Most importantly, they need to make money on this to justify keeping it around. Or developing other cars in a similar vein.
What dumb comment on your end, you don’t know me.

You don’t even understand what you read if you read my comment at all. I was specifically talking about the trickle down effect. Why am I wasting my time talking to you, just lowers my iq.

I thought the same too, like it could be a peripheral of some sort...however, if you look closely, the carbon fiber weave is not on a horizontal axis of reflection...it is on a vertical axis of reflection. In other words, it looks like it's the tunnel side trim.

A return of a driver-focused interior would be a godsend. I agree, we can all dream.

Ok, so hear me out on this possible direction Toyota may be taking here with the interior...

That carbon fiber bit, might be....MIGHT BE....the button that we all see in the FT-1 concept along the tunnel. They may have covered it with a carbon fiber blank piece to hide the opening of what may eventually be that button from the FT-1. I feel like Toyota will have the center bezel incorporated on the production car, because there is too much open space between the transmission tunnel and the center console (radio, AC controls, etc...). I think we very well may see a similar center console / dash area to the FT-1:

Is that button for the fuel filler flap?

That centre bezel should help make the interior more driver focused.

Looks like the fuel filler flap button. Again, I am only throwing a guess out there as I have no idea what the carbon fiber piece is for in the interior. Possibly trim, block off plate, temporary molding for the pre-production cars, etc.... I don't know. I just wish we had some more info on this damn car, it's very unusual for a car company to be so "hush-hush" about a product for long.
