Has anybody attempted to change the look of the silver trim that runs horizontal across the dash over the vents?

I think it might look better in a gloss black as the silver seems kinda tacky like chrome wheels. Could this be popped off with a flathead or are we talking about removing the dash lol?

I can't think of anything more tacky than piano gloss black inside a vehicle...

I’d say too much carbon fiber would fall into the “more tacky than piano gloss black” category.
Agreed! I mean i might do gunmetal instead honestly just wasn’t sure if there was a way to pop it out

I’m honestly unsure about how to remove it. Maybe looking at some parts diagrams can help. However, you could get some vinyl for rather cheap on Amazon in different colors to see how it would look before diving full into removing and painting. If you were going the paint route.

I think someone here has used a red pinstripe along that line to break up that silver. But piano black attracts a lot of dust, fingerprints and scratches -my old Golf R was prone to that.

Carbon fiber can definitely be overdone and look tacky especially if it's from different companies and the hues/patterns don't match the OEM center console.

Vinyl would be easy for the flat parts like vent and the piece that goes across the passenger dash, but tricky for the part around the vent's control...time to go ghetto and get the paint brush lol

Yeah I don't like piano black either for that reason which is why I want to replace the media surround with the carbon piece....as for the silver trim, its so small/thin and not a touch area that I don't think it would have any issues with fingerprints, and I'm not really set on black might do gunmetal or something else but was really just trying to tone down the bright silver. I'll screw around with it!
