All things said.. people were debating that this car might be as fast as a Shelby GT350 and it’s not even close.

What time does the 350 do the ring in? The R posted a 7:32 but I can’t find anywhere for just the 350.

The difference between the cars are CF wheels and back seat removal and little bit more aero. So it’ll maybe do a 7:34~ or 7:36

I think the Supra is lighter than z4 more powerful I hope :)
Those of you hoping for a light weight spec of the Supra.. will keep on dreaming. It’ll be a 3300 lb car with 380hp.

They are probably waiting on the Supra's time because their claim wasnt referring to the z4
People just don't seem to understand that supra != z4. They might share parts, but from what we've heard from insiders and been led to believe, it's not looking like this is the brz/frs situation.

BMW USA says 0-60 in under 4.4 seconds. I don’t see the Supra being under 4, which is ok, that it still very impressive. What is not impressive is 25 years after the mkiv to only make such little improvement. Let’s see if Toyota has a surprise for us.
I'm pretty sure the car will be more than "little improvement" over the old one. We have to remember that number sheets while are awesome for bragging rights and what not....mean nothing when it comes to a sports car or "drivers car" if you wanna use that term.

I've owned a 2013 GTR that ofcourse was fast as hell.....super fun? I had to get the car built to 1000hp for the "super fun" part to stay with me! The Cayman GT4 on the other hand? 0-60 in 4.1-4.3 seconds yet its by far the most fun car I've ever owned (granted I will give a lot of that to NA motor and the BEST manual transmission I have ever used) but not impressive on power / number sheets if you ask me

My point is I am sure the increased rigidity, improved knowledge of suspension setups, power delivery etc etc will show where all the improvements over the MK4 really went. So lets not say "little improvement" based on number sheets alone.

Not to mention non sports car related improvements to the car. I am just assuming this car has way more technology, safety tech, and a better crash rating (as all modern cars should). All of these added features and improvements mean cramming more stuff into the car so that fact the MK5 weighs somewhat close to the MK4.....impressive to me.

Even Tada has stated several times they are completely different but a lot of people are won't get over the fact it is being co-developed alongside BMW. They will turn a blind eye to everything he has said and jump to their own conclusions.

Do we all wish Toyota designed their own in-house motor for the car? Absolutely, but that's not the reality of this situation and does not mean Toyota won't deliver a great car

My bench racing brain believes that the track-focused GT350R will have a larger Nurburgring lap time difference than 2-4 seconds when compared to the regular GT350.

If we analyze the specs and lap times for the Camaro ZL1 (regular version) and the Camaro ZL1 1LE (track focused model) for comparison, though both models have the same horsepower output, the added aero, track-focused suspension, and 60 lb weight reduction of the ZL1 1LE made it over 13 seconds faster than the more street-friendly ZL1 around the 'Ring (7:16 vs 7:29).
