That's what I'd expect it to sound like, and I'm surprised you got that many burbles with no-load revving, the car must have been pretty hot.

Exhaust volume is going to be dependent on how much exhaust flow there is and the engine load. If you're just babying it around town right now because breakin period, you are probably putting less than 30% engine load, and likely using very little boost. One thing that was new for me coming from a non-fi car is that just because you might be at 6k rpm, doesn't mean you're getting the same exhaust sound, the difference between the volume (and deep bass tones) for keeping the car at some RPM while cruising vs while under load is very noticable for me.

Just a sample clip that from the outside with some light revs there are still noises and slight burble however I cannot hear anything most of the time while driving.

I know that an intake, catted dp and potentially a new valved exhaust is high priority for mods to do but just wanted to get others thoughts and opinions.
Was that on a cold start? That's how my 2022 (engine bay is stock) sounds on a cold start, but if the car is slightly warmed up it sounds kind of violent.

Skip to 20 sec in clip below. Started the Supra in sport mode after I pulled the cars out of the garage.

Recorded in Dec 2022 - soon after I got the daily driver. Both cars are stock in the clip. Supra had 12k miles, GLA had like 42k miles at time of recording.

Didn't rev out either engines - just wanted to hear the different tones on startup from the outside.... and also did not want to piss off the neighbors.

which one did you go with? any improvement with burbles?
Active autowerks dp. More burbles and much louder, even in comfort mode. Super happy with the sound now, especially on downshifts!

Actually, I forgot I had a quick test drive in a 20 or 21 auto and I know for sure it popped and burbled a lot more and was a bit louder with the ASD.

I am still breaking in so maybe once I am able to open it up more it'll sound better and maybe I do have a bit more expectations for a stock car but I just remember the auto being a bit more dramatic.
it was probably a '20 you drove

my buddy has a '21 with a catless DP -- i am a '20 catted DP -- and yep, i am actually louder and pop more often & more aggressively than he does. hope this provides some clarification

It was just after a test drive probably just warmed up nothing crazy.

My 21 stock in sport sounds good enough for me. Unless I'm going the tune route with dp added. But as far as sound I'm satisfied.

I just picked up my premium MT earlier this week and I think it sounds pretty good so far, with the caveat being that its ABOVE 4k rpms, which is probably why you haven't been satisfied yet if you're following what the manual says for break-in. It's much more aggressive sounding at higher rpms, and letting off above 5k I get a second of fast crackles/backfires that is very nice. Also I still have ASD enabled and plan to keep it on until I get exhaust components to supplement the lost sound in the cabin.

The 2020s are much more lively from an exhaust perspective. For some reason, they seem to have dialed it back each subsequent MY.
Yeah, and one of the reasons why I havent swapped the catback yet.. I want to get the HKS, but honestly not seems to be worth the hassle when you consider where the factory exhaust is to start, then the hassle of fitment, and what to do with the huge stock exhaust..

If I had the 21+ (?) I would have swapped it already.

This reminds me of the G35C.. sounded perfect, but some pansie tard complained it was too loud and Nissan dialed it back to where it sounded like a stupid sedan.

2020 with HKS sounds amazing to me.

I am pretty sure I read the exhaust on MT isn't quite as loud on purpose. Something about the way they "test" the dB for regulatory reasons is unfair to MT vs AT cars. I don't remember the exact details tho.

I test drove a 21 a while back. Compared to my MT, I do remember the 21 doing some more burbles and stuff. I just got out of the break in period and have been using sport mode and it definitely made a difference but still isn't quite as animated as the 21. I drove a 23 auto real quickly too and it had some more burble than the MT did but it wasn't a huge difference.

I have an unpopular opinion about burbles and backfires that I won't share here given the demographic that will roast me for it, but I think the car sounds just fine the way it is and i say that when most everything i was cross-shopping had a V8. I may imagining things (probably) but a bit more turbo noise seems to be coming through (probably since I can be more aggressive with the throttle finally). Eventually a catted downpipe and a tune will get me the extra sound I'm looking for.

You're thinking of the new Z I'm pretty sure.
