One of the key factors to me… I rarely see another Supra on the road in Ohio… this makes the car extra special and unique… in addition to it’s great looks and performance!
What's it feel like to be the main focus every time you drive down an ohio road?

I just adore the looks of the car from every single bloody angle, I'm very aesthetic driven admittedly, I enjoy washing and drying every inch of the bodywork and admiring the craftsmanship.
And I also really wanted a 6 cilinder engine and did extensive research on the B58 engine's reliability and it checked out. I was originally going to get a GR86, but then said fu*k it, I'm gonna be in debt anyway might as well get what I really want and not regret it everytime I start up the 4 banger.

It also happens to be the mrs favorite car so when I ordered it sort of secretly it made her very happy too, she saw one at the Japfest and fell in love.

It is a dream car and taking it out always feels special, it often seems to make other people's day even if it just means a head turn, a smile, thumbs up or child pointing at it. It feels like owning a supercar a little bit.

It's also the only reason I put up with the absurdity and depression of a boring corporate 9to5 job every day ...
You made the right call, no matter how bad your day was, driving home in your dream car takes the edge off every time.

I live in NH where we get many feet of snow. Had a beautiful Focus RS that was a monster in the snow. Drove the Supra when a dealer had a used one ‘for fun’. Wow. I had to have it and trade in on the RS was fantastic on the time. It just drives so great. I love the small cabin. Low seat. And the white in person is jaw dropping . Absolutely zero supras around me. I’m in love.
WOW! Happy for you, having a car you love it one of the simple things that makes life better.

BMW started hiring blind woke people to design cars.

The manual was announced for the Supra, I had a GR86 already as a DD.

Decided to get a manual Supra because this might be the last:

Decent looking BMW without stupid kidney grills
Last manual
Last RWD
Last LSD
Definitely last car with a regular cluster

Haven't driven the thing as of yet since we're in the middle of winter but I hope its good lol

I got mine to get back in the race class I got kicked out of in my Evo. Then once I got the Supra all setup for its series, they cancel the series. Worked out great....

TLDR: "Can't quite afford a 911 yet" 😆

Really though, there aren't a ton of options for a $60k MT RWD sports car. Maybe the Z or the base Cayman, but the Supra had the best performance and appearance for that price point. M2/M4 too hideous for me to consider.

Also, what others here already said. I have a sinking feeling that this will be one of the last of its kind, so a little bit of FOMO 😅

Well at least you'll have it in case it ends up being the last of its kind!

Cool Thread....Nice Reads.
Could go on and on, will keep it short. Raised up in a family that bought Toyotas. Parents divorced when I was 12. Went to live with with my father when I was 15. He bought (and financed from a friend) a '83 Celica Supra for me. But I wasn't 16 yet and couldn't drive it. Well, it got repo'd prior to me getting to drive it. Fell in love with Supra's in the late 80's and have followed them since.
First one I bought was a '86.5 Supra in early '90's. I am turning 50 this year, and have a little collection of Supra's. Wishing current Supra's were all Toyota, but understand what's at hand.
The pics attached are me peeking in on my Launch model when I got word my car came in. Then the dealer asked me to bring in my '98s in when I picked up the Launch to do a little photo op and put in the local paper. If you Google the dealer, even today they use the photo as a main photo on Google. ***No affiliation with them.

Honestly, I'm just odd. I looked at a bunch of possible things to replace my 2013 FR-S with and ultimately settled here. I very nearly went with a used 4C; in the end the complete lack of practicality with that car pulled me away. The Supra ended up having just enough to make it workable (I daily it).

I like the look, the performance is sufficient, and the price was reasonable for me.

I'm a car whore and love my JDM cars.
Saw the FT1 in person on display in Odaiba and loved it and was hoping the production would live up to the concept. I think the production model fell a bit short but still looks overall pretty great especially after a lip and few mods like the heritage version.

The Supra nameplate definitely helps sell the car as I always highly regarded the MKIV as a lot of others did in the 90s.
I am a diehard manual enthusiast and never bought an auto sports car so when the Supra finally came out without one it was an easy pass however in the back of my mind I was always hoping the would release one.

Prior to the release of the MT, I told myself I would get one if they ever released it and thanks the the Z they finally released it. After hearing the leaked news and when they finally announced the manual, I got on the list and took delivery early last month which was a pretty long wait... Fortunately the first one my dealer got that I put the deposit with was my next best option apart from A91.

After owning the car initially I was a bit let down but I am optimistic that after some mods and break in period it'll liven up some more.

Biggest disappointments: Too quiet stock and seems like auto sounds livelier especially the earlier years. Shifting isn't as good as Hondas and I do get that rubbery feel that most journalists say that it doesn't have however I have gotten used to it by now. Clutch pedal travel seemed VERY tall however I am now used to it and it doesn't bother me much anymore. Interior is boring and a black void. Infotainment/tech and are a bit sad for a 23 model and the price point. Steering wheel is a JOKE.. The most crucial part of engagement with a sports car is the wheel and they totally fudged that. I swapped it out with a CF wheel and already like the car at least 5x more. Horn is sad. There's no storage and the car adaptive modes between normal and sport isn't nearly as noticeable as the R or even the MS. Steering wheel doesn't tighten up enough and the suspension doesn't stiffen up enough. Cluster has so much potential and when you go into sports mode it's literally an afterthought where you barely notice you've switched driving modes. I could go on and on to nitpick but overall these are lots of minor annoyances and by the time I list all the cons this would have turned into a post about what made me hate the Supra stock but I digress.

Previous manual car was an FK8 Type R which is a fantastic manual sports car/all around daily drivers car. A few other MT cars I owned was the Elantra N, ND MX5, Genesis Coupe, S2k, RX8, 300ZX, SC300, RSX Type S, Integra GSR and more.

Currently also own a LR Tesla Model S which more than scratches the itch for any need for speed and the ultimate daily driver to also haul around the toddler.

I guess cherry on top for getting the Supra was I never bought a brand new Toyota or BMW and never owned a German car.

Upcoming mods are armaspeed intake and AA catted dp which I hope will help me appreciate the car a bit more and hopefully make it sound a bit more like a sports car rather than just a grand touring car. I also got the euro Z4 springs which will hopefully help stiffen up the suspension just a tad as I think it's still too soft.

Been wanting to purchase my first brand new car but my previous used cars were still running (98 Manual Acura integra/2008 Toyota rav4)but a little fender bender from someone rear ending me. I wanted a new civic type r, then waited for a next gen subaru sti but it got canceled, decided to look for a cayman s but didn’t pull the trigger in time so prices went up. Decided to go with the gr corolla or a used gr supra next. Test drove the auto Supra and didn’t enjoy it as I thought I would so I swayed my decision towards the manual gr corolla. Mt Supra was released and I was interested in the Supra again. I let my wife decide between the corolla and Supra because I couldn’t decide. Ended up with the 23 mt in strat blue after plenty of waitlists in and out of state. Couldn’t been happier with my first brand new purchase.

Great description! AWE touring exhaust all the way (my wife had me get the AWE track). What a difference :flame: I’m fine with the wheel but @NitroYellowMKV can hook you up there. I stick to always driving in manual mode and don’t mind it. Can’t stand the shift points with the two auto modes offered for in town driving. Agree with you on the interior, so I got red with my 2022 phantom. The quirky computer is blah 😕 but I love the big turn off the nannies button.

I’ve had more expensive cars and a few of the same ones you’ve had, nothing is perfect as we all know. This one seems to have the best trade offs at this price point for my use, tracking.… Sway bars and SPL parts are nice for tightening things up but that’s a big leap many don’t want to do and can’t blame em. More experience mechanic needed for alignments, more noise (which won’t matter if you get the loud exhaust 😂) but gotta admit it feels great!
