Morning all,

Looking to inject some more noise into the Supra. I’ve already done the OEM exhaust mod, popular here in the UK, but now would like some more intake noise. I’ve never had a turbo car before, always NA (older M cars etc) or more recently Supercharged (F-Type) and hadn’t quite appreciated how much a turbo robs an engine of noise and character. I want to turn off ASD, but then the car will be even quieter.

Been looking at all the different setups. Eventuri appears to be too quiet (and expensive), but also not a fan of the darth vader noises the MST & Armaspeed intakes make. As a guy in my mid 40’s I think the novelty would quickly wear off. Is there a middle ground? Would like more induction noise, but without loud the turbo flutters, waste gate noises etc. Perhaps I can’t have my cake and eat it with a turbo setup. If it helps, I live in the Scotland (UK), so doubt heat sock will be an issue lol.

Is the MST quieter without the optional turbo\inlet pipe? Perhaps that's the way forward? I'm not chasing power, just more noise. Appreciate your input.

What do you mean OEM exhaust mod? whats that?

As for the intake I'm sure that there are intakes with turbo inlets which are quite. But ur idea is correct if u just buy the intake without the turbo inlet pipe it is quitter but then again not that much of a difference. Another option is a mod you can do to the OEM one. There is a muffler on the OEM intake u can just take it off and plug it. I'm not sure which companies make it I forgot, but they exists maybe someone can link to one.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I did read about the various modifications but keeping the OEM airbox. I'd be up for that if it make a difference when ASD is turned off, but some reviews said no real difference. Perhaps combined with panel filter, charge pipe it might.

Take off the resonator on the air box and install the delete (Verus, BMS, etc.) and install an HKS panel filter. Should give you plenty of what you’re looking for. I have the MST V2 installed on mine, it’s not obnoxious to me at all. I’m in my 40s as well.

i second what this gentleman is advising.

- verus resonator delete
- high-flow drop-in air filter
- perhaps an aftermarket turbo inlet too. better flow, throttle response

He wants to have noise but no noise at the same time…
Just the right noises!!! 🙂

Miss a high revving naturally aspirated engine and the noise an induction kit brought. S54 engine especially and of course the S2000

Shouldn't cost more than £100 for the first two items. Might not be enough, but worth a shot. Hopefully at least be enough for compensating disabling ASD and give a more natural sound.

Yes, disable ASD right away. Turn off the surround sound option in your stereo as well. Your music will sound so so so much better.

You’ll never get that guttural engine rasp out of a sold m s52/s54 engine, I just drove a z3m for a few hours and man was it amazing… or it’ll never scream like my f type did either, but I love my turbo noise from the hks open box, it’s def loud and a lot of the stututu, I’d go mst v2 and just keep the lid closed. It’s not that loud tbh. You’ll be happy

And if you don't mind me asking, what do you like best about it, the turbo noises or more the induction noise?

Leaning towards a louder exhaust at the moment.
