What’s confusing is...

Six months ago.. we heard the Supra will be a proper track car while the Z4 will be a GT car.
Then we heard the z4 is also a proper track car.
Now the Supra is a execellent road car while the Z4 is a track weapon.

They seemed to have switched souls. Tada has mentioned that he was building a proper track car and didn’t have any consideration for back seats etc as he had when he had engineered the FRS/BRZ. Now all that seems to be negated with this review from MT.

Also the lack of power and comparing the car to the 370Z and maybe if Toyota dials the car in it may even be as good as a Z4 is super sad given that we were lead to believe that Toyota had the upper hand in the handling department.
I can't imagine a Supra fending off a 370Z, that's not where the car needs to be at. I am aware the 370z is an aging platform on its way out and a 400z is to come, but that car wasn't applauded for its looks, instead, for the driving experience it can provide on the cheap. I did originally note that it feels Toyota wanted to get reviews on the feel, experience and character of the car and not so much the grunt. Considering how long it's been and we still don't know price, fuel, weight, power and so much more on a prototype car 90-95 percent done makes me think either they are running out of ideas, which I doubt, or are planning for a grand debut when it's their turn to reveal.

Very much doubt any major changes to the car beyond what it is at the moment. Maybe some tweaks and that’s pretty much all I’d expect out of Toyota.

If the car felt under powered when comparing it to a euro spec Z4 (what MT drive during their prototype drive) then it’s very sad cause.. I see the Zupra having less power than the Z4 given that it weighs less. Besides why would BMW want Toyota to have the better weight to power ratio. So I expect this car to not have anything more than 350hp and a curb weight of 3300. Turning out to be a mediocre car as I stated previously. Nothing spectacular nothing bad.. just another car. Thank you Toyota for a BMW Zupra.

Pretty disappointing to hear the Z4 was sharper and felt more powerful than the Supra to be quote honest.

Shouldn't the Supra be more edgy and the Z4 more refined? That review left me lost in translation.

Based on everything I have read so far the only thing that still has me holding on to hope is the design of the car and the hope that Toyota has a major trick up its sleeves interms of performance and a manual transmission.

They don't seem to be worried onebit about a late full model reveal, I just certainly hope they have some big cats in the bag because it's looking just meh at the moment in terms of living up to the full Supra Legacy.

Yea... it's a little disheartening to read that review especially since he's the only one who has driven the Z4 and can compare the two. I also think Toyota will release all their info and specs on the car before they begin taking pre-orders in Oct. I am sure they are aware of how underwhelmed the majority of people are at this "striptease" of information we are getting from them.

On another note... I read somewhere that some of the Toyota engineers are hopeful for a 4 cylinder Supra because of the lower weight and the potential to make some serious power off that little engine. It would be funny if the 4 banger motor ended up being the prized Supra everyone wants instead of the I6. At this point in the game, I'm just ready for Toyota to come out with the info and manufacture the car so I can test drive it and make up my own mind.

I also think that Toyota can wipe their hands clean, so to speak, if this car does well or ends up being a flop. If it's a flop, they can chalk it up to the car being a joint venture and not doing well. If it does well, they can make a small return because they saved money going in on it with BMW and hopefully invest that into R&D for a later upgraded Supra model. At this point, we all still know nothing :confused1: :banghead: It would be cool if we could get some of the drivers perspectives and feelings about the car, but I'm sure Toyota has made them sign some type of waiver keeping reviews silent.

Bet you anything the 4cyl will be more valuable as a used car than the I6. Everyone is gonna jump on those used to do 2JZ swaps....I can just see it now.

To be fair, this is just one article from one author's opinion subjective comparison between the two. His opinion doesn't magically mean it is set in stone and the other journalists are wrong

I believe the Z4 that was used at France for the press drive was the 382hp US spec Z4.
Are you sure about this? Then why wouldn’t Toyota show the US spec version as well? Makes no sense for them to show a US version in Europe to gauge feedback. If shown in Europe it should be what they’d be getting in the near future. Oh well.. if logic was used we won’t even be in this scenario of getting a Zupra to begin with.

How can they legally register those cars to drive on the roads if they don't adhere to the emission standards?

That would be crazy if this whole time, the test vehicles in the reviews were the 4cyl model...lmao!
Another way to look at these reviews is that Toyota invited them to review solely the chassis and suspension. Since the interior and exterior were covered and the mid-spec motor (not 4 cyl or GR model) already reviewed in the Z4, the chassis and suspension were the only parts they were willing to show off

shitty but think we need to wait for yet another review....

...this blind dude lost all credibility when he couldn't tell Toyota clear got an uglier steering wheel and thought were the same with the same buttons...

He also said all the switches were exactly the same lol

i prefer the color that comes with the manual transmission
You are out of luck. Sorry sir.

My prediction is... this car will be a mediocre seller at best. Toyota will not add a manual option due to this. And eventually they’ll drop it as this MeH car will never meet any sales targets.

Well pre-orders are starting in 8 days. IDK it just seems like they still aren't ready to release info. for whatever reason. They are happy to announce when the car will be available which is sometime middle of next year but don't want to tell or show what this car is all about. Either they are going to blow our minds away or this will be the longest wet tease for no BIG reason.
