I would say you were lucky. Everyone else probably are waiting for their color choice.
I told them Nocturnal or Stratosphere, and that I may flex to Renaissance Red, but I wasn't really wanting white or yellow. I tried to be as broad as possible without bending on certain things (3.0 Premium, and the manual transmission obviously). I suppose it was just blind luck it transpired like it did.

Hitting this thread up because I have two friends looking for manuals. Are there any recent dealers selling at MSRP for 3.0 premiums? And average wait time? Thx

Reading this thread makes me wonder if my experience was typical. I reached out to my local dealer in January, placed a deposit in the middle of January. I was told I was first on the list. About a week later I get a call saying there's one coming in, only to be told a few hours later someone was in line in front of me and I was sixth in line.

Naturally, I was pretty annoyed being told I was first and a car was allocated, then being told I was sixth and the car I was told was allocated for me was going to someone who had put a deposit on it in September.

At this point I chalked it up to dealer incompetence and braced for a wait that could be months long. Beginning of February I get a call and say they have an allocation that matches my preferences and want to know if I am interested. I say yes, and they say it will be ready for pickup in two days.

Out of curiosity, I look at the car on the website, and the VIN number is the same VIN number of the car they had called me about a few weeks prior that they said was allocated to me before reaching back out to me again later that day to say it was going to someone else ahead of me on the list.

Just makes me wonder if someone passed on the car because they had found one elsewhere. It had a whole nine miles on it, so I doubt it was sold, but it was just an interesting experience.

The day I drove it home, it had been about six weeks from the time I put my deposit down. 2023 3.0 Premium with the manual trans, no markup.

I'm guessing my wait time is much shorter than the average up to this point?
Congratulations!
Many people get in line at multiple dealers and inevitably back out when they have an allocation elsewhere. Sounds like you got lucky multiple times.

I must have, I wasn't expecting to get one so quickly. I was looking at a GR Corolla, the Supra, or the Z. The Supra won out because I was actually able to get my hands on one, and at MSRP.

My opinion is that you chose the right car. Those were all on my list too!

Yeah, I went and looked at a Proto spec Z last September ish because a local dealer had one. It was automatic so it was already a no, and I'm not a fan of yellow anyway. They had the car roped off so I couldn't as much open the doors to look at it or sit in it, and I think they wanted a $15-$20,000 markup on top of it.

That combined with what Nissan dealers were telling me (6-12+ months wait) in addition to most of them adding markups, I just decided the Z wasn't going to happen. It did have some things I wanted that I wish the Supra had (Android Auto, and a manual ebrake for starters), but it also had things I didn't like. I'm not a fan of the 350 and of the 370, and especially not a fan of the Renault quality interiors nissan used during those times, and the Z borrows from the 370Z, which by proxy is borrowing from the 350z as well.

The GR Corolla was a huge potential seller for me, but again, with stock issues I just couldn't find one without a markup. I almost went for one for $50,000, but I decided to settle on the Supra and so far I'm not really regretting it. Also had my eyes on a 2018 Focus RS.

Sure, there's always the thought of what could have been, but if I had chosen the Z or the GR Corolla, or a Focus RS I'm sure I would be thinking that about the Supra as well.

For everyone still waiting, the wait is absolutely worth it. I had hyped this thing up in my mind to ridiculous levels during the year long wait, but I'm not disappointed in anything. A manual is exactly what this car needed. Between the ZF8 being super smooth and the motor being super smooth, the automatic version was a little boring to me unless I was really pushing it. The manual added some much needed engagement for normal driving.

When did you put your deposit in? 5 months is nothing, some have waited longer.

Ya my dealer wouldn’t take deposit until Toyota preferred order banks were actually open for the MT. I know People on here were putting deposits down at dealers before that but their dealer didn’t do anything until preferred order banks opened…
