Just recieved my AMS downpipe and chargepipe from a local retailer here in Canada and was pretty disappointed after inspecting both them ..

The Chargpipe came with a very noticeable and defend sized scuff/scratch on it (looked like from factory and not shipping) and the welds on the downpipe are very subpar ..

Is this typical of AMS products? I would think not, as their products cost a pretty penny.

i recommend contacting AMS directly for their opinion
Yeah, I contacted my supplier and also AMS, asking if this is their norm.

Their welder seemed to have an off day, when doing this downpipe it seems ..lol

When they got into big power GTR and Huracan/R8 builds, the quality on the rest of their stuff suffered. They're not bad, but not as good as they used to be.

Yea the AMS stuff dropped in quality for sure.

On the opposite side, MAP (MAPerformance) has increased in quality. I have nothing but good things to say about their downpipe. I have history in using their parts from my Evo days.

That's a real shame. Oh well, I'm very curious what reply I get from AMS after calling them out.

Yes, back in the big Evo build days, etc their quality was better. Used to run AMS parts and their Evo exhausts were top tier. Those are really terrible welds and I would def not put that on my car.

X2. So far I'm enjoying my map DP.

MAPs Catted DP was a really nice piece. No CEL and excellent craftsmanship. Would recommend.

I will definitely look into MAPerformance DP. I was also looking at AA DP too, as I've heard good things as well?

I'Ve delt with Christina through AMS' support and all favorable results from getting a free testpipe after I drunkenly stripped the downstream 02 sensor bung.

But that was all on the Evo X days. The company has massivly grown after moving onto to the GTR and Lambo platforms. That doesn't look anywhere near the welds on any of the parts I have had.

Have they maybe outsourced their "lower end" car parts, for manufacturing? Or do they still manufacture all their stuff in house?
