Does anybody know what’s the cheapest way to ship a set of wheels that are mounted with tires? UPS quoted $1200 to ship all 4.

I recently shipped a set of wheels with tires mounted through FedEx. It was cheaper for me to just cover each side of the wheel with a piece of bubble wrap, then cardboard, then tape, then plastic wrap than have the shipper package them for me.

I've shipped wheels across the country twice this way now and they’ve arrived completely unscathed each time.

All that said shipping rates have gone through the roof this past year. So any way you do it will be a huge ripoff.

It’s completely dependent on size, weight, and where you’re shipping to. Mine were only 17” wheels with 215/45 tires. Fedex charged me $375 to ship all 4 insured from Denver to Los Angeles.

Checkout the FedEx shipping estimator online. If you plug in the dimensions and weight and where it’s going to I’ve found it to be very accurate.

Shipnerd.com for 50 pounds at 28x28x12 it about $90 per wheel for east coast to west coast. alan7467's suggestion for how to pack them is how I've received mine from other members as well.

Pirateship.com. Just know though, that if you don't put them in boxes, no matter what insurance you purchase, damage will NOT be covered. I shipped my Apex wheels face to face with cardboard inbetween. All air let out. Then shrink wrapped them with enough high strength shrink wrap to hold king kong still, and UPS still delivered them in 4 pieces. Like they cut the wrap or just destroyed the wrap. Either way, insurance through pirateship or ups would NOT cover damage.
