I‘m not sure if I should ask for my money back or perhaps this story is the norm and I need to roll with it for a bit longer..

Just over 3 weeks ago I ordered 2 parts where I specifically asked the shop if they had the items in stock before placing the order to which the answer was yes. After a week without any shipment I then find out the delay is not with the shop, but with the company that makes the parts and would ship soon direct from manufacturer. (so the items were not in stock)

After another week waiting for shipment I contacted the manufacture directly to be told that they were aware of my order, but 1 of the 2 parts was not available until mid July with the recommendation to split the order. I then contacted the shop and paid another $50 shipping to split the order where I could at least get 1 of the parts now.

Fast forward another week and still no shipment and the very odd thing is that when I now look on the manufactures site the part that was mid July is showing as in stock ready to ship.

Am I being treated as a second class buyer because I am in the UK? This is just not adding up and I am feeling like I am just being messed around.

The problem is that it is a part I really wanted and I am very limited on where I can source it from in the US, but I am reaching the point where another manufactures version of this part is looking a far better option where I can get it in the UK.

What would you guys do?

At minimum I’d get your $50 back. Patience, young Skywalker.

I don't really see anywhere in this where you contacted the vendor for assistance?

You can ask for the shipping refunded and have them explain the delay. Worst case with no response file claim with your credit card company or paypal if you dont get any response

I think I was just venting my frustration yesterday on this not going to plan and also starting to get a bit paranoid. It was the item now appearing in stock along with a 3rd week rolling by without any shipment (that I paid an extra $50 to get shipped separately) that did it for me..

This all could be completely innocent in that they suddenly realised they were getting more parts and have waited a few days to ship my entire order in one hit.

Both your order shipped, and you will receive them on the 15th :)

Let me lay out the timeline of events for the readers:
  • May 19th - I received your direct message and provided you with the price (on this date, the manufacturer's estimated ETA showed the items as being in stock).
  • May 20th - Your order was placed.
  • May 28th - You asked me for an update; I checked with the manufacturer and informed you that your order would be shipped in a week.
  • June 2nd - You independently contacted the manufacturer, who told you that one of the items had been delayed until July. They suggested splitting the order. You then got me with this suggestion, which I agreed to for an additional $50, which now meant two separate shipments to the UK. order was changed same day.
  • June 10th - Both items ended up being shipped at the same time. (as they are two orders, they did not ship together)
  • June 15th - Expected delivery date.
It seems that the manufacturer gave you advice based on the ETA available at the time. Unfortunately, this changed, making their advice unhelpful and somewhat counterproductive.

OP, I don't believe you are frustrated with me, but if I'm mistaken, I would appreciate your feedback. If there's anything I could have done differently or better in this situation, I'd like to know to improve our service.

I was purposely keeping any names out of this as did not want to start slinging mud around at anyone, I was just seeing if this sort of thing is the norm and I was just being paranoid.

.. and you are correct that you have not done anything wrong other than perhaps when I asked if the items were in stock, but that is probably me being 100% old fashioned where distributors don’t ever hold actual stock these days and you obviously meant the manufacture had stock. (I remember looking myself on the 20th where they had 3 inlets and like 7+ intakes available)

you have always answered my questions so can’t fault you, and would happily use you again. In fact, Dinan has also been great in responding to my queries.

I think this is just one of those times when things did not go smoothly, but it is also these times that shows that you are dealing with good people as they are working to sort it out.

So, they have actually shipped today?

You handled it well dude. Good honest question on your part. I’m with ya. I miss the good old days of stores with stuff in house. I think Amazon and others have forever changed that. Why carry $tock, more overhead and higher expenses.

I actually started a dumb thread, when I 1st got my supra, asking if there was a one stop shop that I could order all my parts from. There’s not. I think those days are gone. Covid paranoia didn’t help anyone either. But I’ve found the sellers/sponsors on this forum are great. At least they’re on here and trying to do their best. I haven’t come across any Comcast/Xfinity (truly bad service) sellers in our community. As of yet… ?

:offtopic: I miss my S2K brother. She was the only dedicated track car I owned. Expensive but a fun path to go down regardless. What an incredible platform ?. Wish I never sold her (bet you’ve never heard that one b4 ?). I hope you kept yours!

I agree with you, OP was very respectful; he did not even name the companies. Nothing wrong with asking the community their opinion.

Remember that among the 60,000 part numbers we offer, 99% are guaranteed to ship within 1-2 business days and will reach you in under a week. For the vast majority of these items, there are no delays whatsoever.

However, there are a few manufacturers that are an exception. To name a few, these include Dinan, MST, CTS Turbo, and Burger Tuning. With these brands, the shipping depends on the manufacturer, and no guarantee can be given.

And, of course, there are in-house items for which we carry almost 500K worth of inventory on hand, and these items are guaranteed to ship within 24 business hours.

The market has changed, and if a vendor only offers in-house items, they'd be out of business in no time. But the trick here is to offer to drop ship items without delay and fast shipping.

I can go into more detail as to why it works on 99% of the brands and not everyone, but I don't think this thread is the right place.
