The soon to be revealed, still in camo, Supra. We've known the shape for four years, too late to complain about it or ask for a change.

Now, the Lexus LCF, that's going to be sexy.

If each headlight shifted outward towards the fenders about 3-4 inches and the front fenders were flared wider 3-4 inches, it would drastically give the car a better look. The lower vents (grill) and headlight placement, sit far too narrow. The lower vents are cut short towards the fenders by the vertical headlight vent which further gives the illusion of a narrow 'face'. Compare the Supra's flawed design with that of an AMG GT for example, a superior design. The GT's headlights sit into the fender and the lower vent openings extend towards the fender as well maximizing the wide, intimidating stance; an illusion of a wider car:

Doesn't the mkv look better in these photos above than in some of the other recent pics? Scale in the headlights in these pics is better now they have been covered, especially they DTLED scheme that runs into the center and are overall better in size relation to the narrow vents and hood width. The shape the headlights take on now is that of the new Aston Martin Vantage which also places the lights far into the fenders. It is a fatal design flaw Toyota needs to be aware of and fix. If you say you love it like it is, you might simply have convinced yourself to love the soon to be revealed product.

if you're trying to compare aesthetics of a $60 K car with 6 figure designs you gotta be smoking the good stuff...

@HKz The comparison is in high design. A bmw at 60k or even a corvette ( if these examples are easier for you to follow) has better design sense if you follow the logic I laid out- headlights for sports and sporty cars should be placed at the periphery of the front end, into the fender to maximize the appearance of width. Furthermore, if there is in fact a $90k GR version, well it could be in fact be competing with a GT, but that isn't the criteria I was demonstrating against. You realize it simply placement of inlets and headlights that determine the look I'm referring to and which if done right from the start, wouldn't be a cost issue but could have amplified the sex appeal of the mkv.

@justbake Gauging the angle and depth as you said can be difficult to judge but with a slightly wider fender, there would be more room to place the headlights as outside as possible while also making them smaller, more in scale with the car. That headlight vertical vent is doing the car no justice! If you have decent Photoshop skills , maybe show the one with the bottom vents to extend further out too. This photo is perhaps a better example to use:

*In my opinion. I think you forgot that part.

I do agree that the Supra could take a wider appeal, if that's what Toyota was aiming for. But, most ppl that has seen or driven the test cars have said the car feels lower and wider than the 86 and the looks from the back is very appealing. I think the car looks good and I'm already planning wider wheels. I'm just curious as to how could a wing fit on the rear?

I believe the effect youre referring to is caused by the small center grille piece where as a lot of newer cars have a huge center grille with smaller side grilles such as the mercedes above and the Z4. But then again I could be showing my bias against the bumper because I think it is hideous. As much as BMW people hate the Z4 front end, it is the better looking of the two IMO.

Why people defend Toyota's design is beyond me; like it's a personal insult or something. My axiom is simply to state that if you like the existing design, you would likely love it even more if Toyota's designers executed with a more aggressive forepart..

@Jabba Actually no, the center portion opening is fine. Its the vents to the left and right that end prematurely to allow for the vertical inlet indentation that are part of the issue. On a relatively narrow sports car, subtleties matter in achieving the right look. In this case, if they extended those vents closer to the fenders and removed the vertical vents, they would have achieved a persona from the front. In terms of opinion, yes it is my opinion but there's a reason people gravitate to desiring the same super hot woman, the same nice house or a well designed piece of furniture- it has to do with subtle nuances in design that stimulate emotion. I don't expect many on here to agree given the posted comments of putting on spoilers on and such and I doubt they have any sartorial sense either but I can say if you like the the designs of some higher end cars you will agree with my input.

Too bad I didn't start a campaign sooner harping on Toyota...

...and why people bother to nitpick designs doesn't make sense either, almost as bad as arguing about politics

Hmm.... well when you try to make subjective statements sound factual, like the one below:

Compare the Supra's flawed design with that of an AMG GT for example, a superior design.
You're bound to get a rebuttal, which I think you were fishing for. So, stop trying to sound defensive.

I'll say this again, I agree with some of your sentiments about the front of the car, however it's moot at this point in it's development. Hopefully, a refreshed version could take some of your points. I don't like the closed vents on the left and right side sitting on top the open ones. Also, I'm not crazy for the vents under the head lights and the lights could had been placed a little wider. But, from what we got I'm totally satisfied with what it looks to be and what's coming in the future.

Too bad I didn't start a campaign sooner harping on Toyota...
If Toyota didn't hear the manual transmission campaign, idk if this one would had done better.
