i installed this and it works as intended but like OP said, it does have power all the time so i have to turn off the cam every time i turn off the car.

I did some more research and found out that dongar also offer some two-prong universal adapter, pretty similar to the mirror tap that is being used for radar detector. Links below.

Im going to use these instead and tap into the other connector (below the pink/reddish one).

i referenced it with the vid below.

basically black to the far left, and red to the far right. there is ample space for the prongs so you can just insert it in the pin locations. you can see how it was on the yt vid above at around 2:14

I'm curious as well. Looking at the harness on Dongar, it uses the same rain sensor plug, and the wires running from the adapter to the usb are the same power/ground wires people are tapping for radar detectors. I have a feeling this will power down after the 7 minutes, but the OP and others likely didnt wait that long and just assumed it stayed on. I'm going to give it a try.

We’ll get your ass to it. We waiting!lol I know my Uniden powers down after like 6 or 8 minutes using the cigarette plug in my truck.

I see a lot of people that use the Blendmount option that attaches to the rear view mirror. Looks clean.

What I want to know is how exactly he pulled that stupid red plug out? And without pulling the mirror off. Good grief.

I did something kind of lame. Once the rear view mirror is pulled off it will hang down and almost touch the screen. put a folded rag over the screen and you can set the mirror on the top of it. Then you push the wires into the plug while it's plugged in.
