Funny, I would be talking to my tire shop WAY before putting a vendor on public blast for this. Based on your explanation, this was discovered AFTER installation with no visible signs that the damage happened in transit. So, what's more likely here; the vendor packed a damaged wheel, or the shop that mounted your wheels fucked up, damaged one and didn't mention it? I'm gonna go with the latter. Looks to me like someone slapped the wheel with the mounting head while mounting the tire.
It was discovered after unwrapping the wheels from their packaging. I posted here the way I did because Apex basically ignored me for a week, when their automated email stated they usually get back to people within 24 hours. 7x24 is a long enough time that going the public route seemed like the best course of action, and it's so far gotten me a response from Apex (both in this thread and via email, where I would have preferred to keep this 🤷‍♂️).

Wait, so you discovered the wheel was damaged and had them mounted ANYWAY?? No offense, dude, but nah. Pics or it didn't happen.

I did, yeah. I waited 2 months from the time I put the first deposit down to get them, and these ended up costing me waaaaaaay more than I planned (not Apex's fault, I got boned by UPS for duty/brokerage fees at the border) and I didn't want to wait for however long it may have taken to get me a replacement wheel (if that is even an option, I have no idea what my options are even now).

Got my set of SM-10RS in motorsports gold yesterday and they look amazing! They are 19.4lbs on my scale which puts them close to the same weight as the VS-5RS. I have yet to see another 18x11 wheel that can beat what Apex offers without having to go with magnesium so very glad I went with them. Still wish a clear or silver option was available but can't wait to get everything mounted and see how the CUL looks with gold.

@APEXRaceParts I used your "contact us" link on your website exactly a week ago today, stating that I received my wheels from the group buy, but that one of them was damaged. The auto reply email I received said someone would reach out to me, in less than 24 hours usually, to discuss it, and yet no one has. I'm more than a little disappointed by the lack of fucks your company has given thus far, considering how much you charge for wheels.

I'm attaching the photos I took the day they were installed. It looks like something was dropped on this spoke, as the box they came in was not obviously damaged, and none of the other wheels look to be damaged.

They look fine to me just goto the track and get more road rash the other wheels should match after a few track days. Just get touch up paint that's all. I was thinking a spoke cracked or the rim itself was compromised. Just powder coat them a new color when they get more track rash. Do you pictures on the car ???

They did. Originally I had not realized that my email flagged it to spam so I reached out through the GangUp website and they reached out with the tracking numbers. All of my communications to them since the pledge was through there and they were quick on getting back to me. I think that they are shipping based on when each person pledged and I was within the first 100 to give you an idea. If your pledge was done a bit after that then they should just be working their way to your order. We also had to wait a bit more than the rest because of being a new model and having to wait for testing to be done before any got shipped.

Just to walk you through how I got notified, I got the email about the remaining deposit first. That oddly took about a week and a half to get charged. Then I got the email that they were being prepped for shipping. A days or two after that I got the email with the tracking which got flagged to spam so I reached out to them through GangUp. Before they even replied I noticed the tracking in my spam so when they replied I had already saved the tracking info on the UPS app. If you have the Shop app you will also notice that it gets the tracking info automatically but may take a day or two.

Was curious if you’d gotten these mounted? I’d love to see some pics

Wrapped in 295/30/18 Continental ECF. Wanted 35 sidewall but these are not available in 295/35 so a bit of extra wheel gap traded for a longer lasting 200tw that can handle good heat. Net 0lbs difference between new and oem set was a sweet win too.

Thanks! I was really skeptical about the gold but dang it looks sweet on the CUL Grey. If you're on the fence about the color I say go for it. It's different and refreshing compared to most options offered for our cars and it looks so good.

The pics on the site make the gold look really light. I was concerned because they’re going on a white car

I mean it is a pretty light gold but not as much as the website shows it to be. The machining on the spokes helps create shadows that change the appearance quite a bit too. They will look clean AF on a white Supra and the red brakes will really pop.

Would a 315 tire fit without rub on the 11” VS-5RS?
