Microphone volume on phone calls.

Whenever I’m in my car on a phone call through CarPlay the person I’m on the call with always complains that it sounds like I’m super far away from my phone. Has anybody else had similar complaints? Even when I yell they say it still sounds really bad. Couldn't find a thread talking about this. I have an iPhone 14pro.

YET, I experienced this as well. To my experience, somehow, the mic is not routed to the mic above you. Instead it picks up the mic from your phone. So, wherever you placed your phone, that's the distance.. - just iPhone things..
I don't have a solution for you.

Stop using CarPlay. I have no problem with phone calls and my iPhone never leaves my pocket. Hot take: CarPlay is absolutely pointless.

I’ve thought it was using my phone also but I’ve been told that doesn’t solve the problem. Meaning I put the phone up to my ear as if I was using it regularly and the problem was still there. Kinda defeats the purpose of CarPlay sadly

CarPlay is only useful for GPS. I think touch screens are useless in cars regardless.
