So I just recently been having this issue where when I attempt to start the car…. after pressing the start button i get no ignition instead I hear a buzzing noise and nothing, but once I release the break and press in the break again the ignition begins and the car starts as normal. I then get this message (attached) appear on my screen. Wanted to know if anyone is familiar with this issue and some solutions. I think the battery could be dying on me but wanted to reach out here to get some insight.

Scan the codes, then we can help.

At a toyota dealer right now as I don’t have an OBD scanner so hopefully they can find the issue/codes. Funny enough the issue wasn’t happening when trying to replicate to the guy checking me in. Fingers crossed it replicates so it gets fixed and I can share the details in case others get the same issue. Keep y'all updated if anything is found or not.

dealer came back with not being able to replicate the issue unfortunately so they couldn’t do much. No codes historically or new came up…so i’m just going to get a scanner and try to be ready if it happens again and see if anything generates. @zrk @Jesse DaBears appreciate willingness to help

How far is the dealer from your house? Do you drive the Supra daily? Almost sounds like the battery was low/drained (hence issue) and talking it to the dealer may have charged it up. Short drives are horrible for batteries and charging, longer drives better. Just a thought.

You might want to consider a basic OBD scanner. I’ve always had one so that never happens, go to dealer trying to replicate. You can keep it in your glove box then whip that puppy out while the problem is happening :)

I have this one:

https://www.amazon.com/OBDLink-Bimm...ds=obd2+scanner+for+bmw&qid=1692960559&sr=8-5

And there’s a thread on pros/cons of each

I daily it and the dealer is about 15 minutes away. They tested the battery at the dealer and said it was perfect and no issues, but if it keeps happening again that will be the first thing I swap out for sure.

update: the car completely stopped starting and would not even let me depress the brake petal. after 30 minutes it finally started and I took immediately to the dealer. the second technician to look at my car said that it may be the break sensor not triggering the start but wasn’t sure until getting a closer look. they kept it for a day and was able to generate some error codes with the starter system shorting out. they replaced the starter assembly and the car has been perfect since. sucks that a 21” with 28,000 miles needed a starter replaced so soon. glad it’s resolved though!

I have a similar issue and got code 216119...I think is just the battery but it could also be the starter...

It's the battery. Every time someone posts about a weird electrical issue, it's low battery. The people who argue that it's not the battery because they totally charged it bro I swear later discover it's low battery. When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie it's a low battery.
