Hey everyone. I'm currently running a jb4 w/ a Jesse tune for map 6 on e30 (in addition to bolt-ons e.g. Exhaust, air intake, catless DP). Locked ECU, not looking for a full unlock either since I don't plan on sticking with the car forever. Looking at potentially going meth (+e40 map) since my goal is to be at or a little over 500whp. For those that have gone down this route, thoughts? Worth? Tips? Feel free to post previous threads that have addressed this already also, I tried searching but couldn't find anything specifically addressing this route. TIA!!

**Not looking to go meth until next Spring, but Jesse's got a sale rn lol**

Hey Zrk! You still on the same setup? Any cons you have thus far with it? Anything you would do diff? If I do this route, I ll prob stay on this setup onto I move on to a diff platform. Unless Jesus himself comes down and unlocks the ecu for all to use/tune and at a reasonable cost.

Did you need any additional ethonal kit or analyzer for your past e40 set up with JB4? Or was the JB4 able to show you yout ethonal content?

You’ll need an ethanol analyzer like Fuel-It, Visconti, BM3, etc.

Alternatively, You can calculate the ethanol blend at the pump after measuring the ethanol content of the e85 and mixing carefully. Jb4 does not sense ethanol content without additional hardware (fuel-it).

91 octane.
Recently I picked up a Burger methanol injection kit with the FSB module, from a forum member.

Q: I’m wondering which JB4 map I should run with the meth kit added? (Boost Juice 50/50 blend)

The Burger install instructions indicate Map 7. Is this still the best map with WMI? (Instructions were from 2017)

-btw, I’m not ready to commit to spending the money for a custom tune from Jesse

For safety sake, I’d have Jesse tune it if I was to go to a different fuel blend in a heartbeat. He doesn’t just send you a Map. You go back and forth until it’s right. It feels better, faster and I’m not worried my engine will blow. Worth every penny amigo

Jb4 with meth is very crude. Honestly the money you spend on the jb4 and meth setup would be about the same for just getting your ecu unlocked and having a real tune.

Jb4 is just a boost controller mainly. It has no timing control or real fuel control.

Depending on octane and what the fuel trims look like yes. I've never liked simply "relying" on the knock system to save the engine due to not being able to adjust timing. But lucky for the jb4 the knock system is kinda sensitive persay.

Even how the auto boost adjusting works on the jb4 I never liked because it bases it's adjustment on timing average over time before reducing. It's not 100% real time unless it changed last year.

Just be careful running JB4 alone. I will always recommend just getting an actual tune rather than altering ecu signals to essentially try to make it do what you want.

Thanks for your comment. Could you explain more about what you mean by ‘crude’?

Where I live there is little availability of anything above 91 octane, and the one station that sells E85 is a bit of a drive away, so that’s not reasonable either.

JB4+Meth would blow any "real tune" out of the water lol. You can run 25 psi with max stock timing. easily 500whp+ on stock turbo. Believe me, the logs I've reviewed surprised me too.

You would need meth or bigger turbo on a proper tune to keep up.

It's just crude in a way that JB4 looks at your boost and delivers the appropriate amount of meth flow for it. It is true that JB4 is basically a boost controller, no fuel or timing control. But Meth+JB4 is technically fuel control ?‍♂
