Catted downpipe with no tune implications?

Would running a catted downpipe pose any long-term effects on the car without ever getting a tune.

I find the stock power on the car is sufficient enough for my daily use. I solely want to make the car louder with some more extra burbles and pops and being able to hear it when driving.

fwiw, I live in California so I don’t tend to go too extreme.

If sound is what you are after, I believe (edited) the exhaust valve can be programmed to stay open using bimmerlink/code or heck even unplugged.

So the sound you'd get is the sound the car makes in sport mode.

Cheap and no need to buy anything expensive.

(But guys let me know if I am wrong - but this was the BMW side trick for more sound without the mods)

I have driven my 23 mt 8000km with aa catted downpipe and awe exhaust no problem. It is more expensive to tune and less tuners where I live in Canada plus the ecu is being locked, still enjoying the car and get many complements. Exhaust, dp, and intake swaps makes the car wake up in my experience.

I had no issues w/ the AA Downpipe & HKS Dual muffler exhaust.

If you're ok with the power, I'd get an exhaust and leave the DP alone. Some dealerships might give you troubles when you need some warranty work and they see a DP.

Also if you plan to keep your car past the 8 year mark, it'll be easier to do smog with OEM DP.

Nope, we've been selling AA downpipes since about 2020/2021, no long term issues that we know of.

There are no issues with the downpipe, but you will get a check engine light with most of them.
The car will still run fine.

if you dont want the CEL, i recommend the active autowerke downpipe

No WOT mapping on the Supra. It's either open or closed. Sport or not.

No issues, running catless DP actually with a built-in emulator and it's been great. Not sure if its placebo but I feel like I gained slight torque/power, I lose traction where I usually don't? But anyways mentally it gives me satisfaction so good enough for now lol until I can get my ECU unlocked.
