Just checking to see if this is impacting anyone else's vehicle.

ISSUE: After an indeterminate amount of time, and with no discernible cause, the vehicle seems to close the data channel on the OBD port. It still provides power and successfully boots attached devices, but it no longer communicates any activity to the port.

NOTES:
  • There is no specific activity I've identified that triggers this. Usually happens during a longer drive, but I've had it happen leaving my neighborhood
  • As speculation, it seems to be more frequent if the Tx/Rx is high (e.g. logging data ). But correlation is not causation.
  • This has happened on OBD-based gauges, Thor WiFi dongle, OBDLink CX, Ecutek dongle. It's not constrained to one attached device.
  • The data channel does not come back unless the car is powered down for several minutes and then restarted.

Have you tried removing and reinstalling the OBD connector, multiple times. I've had electronics modules (like Electronic Body Control) in other cars act up until I improved pin connections with friction-induced connection repetitions.

Yes. It doesn't seem to be a contact issue.

Could it be a voltage issue with the battery, as this car gets upset in many different ways when power fluctuates?

Yes it happens on my Banks OBD Gauge from time to time. Adjusted settings etc and still does it.

Possibly check fuses F1-7 in the BDC in the passenger footwell?

Car no. Truck with banks gauge yes. No fix, seems to be more unusual than your problem though.

I've also got this issue with a banks gauge. I thought the gauge was faulty.
