I came across this article about some GR Corolla's being denied warranty claims which I thought was interesting. Who knows what the real story is but in any case, it's worth noting that Toyota essentially denied a warranty claim based on the notion that a car going over 85mp/h is "abuse."

I wonder if this applies to our cars too?

Amazed that the same minion adjudicated both incidents with a form letter. Thats Corporate directed and he was most likely trained to do just that. Either owner should consult an attorney. With case files available during 'discovery' or even off the web on given forums like this, there will be data/cases to compare it to.
My 12 GTi here in Germany had a cyl-4 ignition failure. I was traveling in a speed free zone at 190kmph. The car was driven to the dealer as it was 4km from my exit I was transiting to. The engine was assessed, the oil and ECU assessed for compliance and the engine replaced. Dealer only maintenance etc. Zero issues. This is a joke from Toyota and would absolutely deter me from buying any product. Any motor can have a failure and burn. How a denial can be applied is beyond perplexing given the article.

This is very concerning. Does this mean that participating in the 1 day NASA event will void our warranty?
Unfortunately for the Supra... yes doing a track day voids your warranty.
No more warranty on engine, drivetrain,...

On the Supra, your car is collecting all data, knows that you 'entered the track' and sends all data directly to the servers of Toyota/BMW. It also remains stored in your key and modules. In case 4G connectivty failed... next read-out at the dealer, and your are flagged.

How I know... cause I experienced a denied warranty based on the above.
And yes, Toyota will not do anything any more on your engine.... even if the cause is not based on a 'track day'. It is just 100% denied warranty, whatever it may be.

As you said.... total bullshit from Toyota. However it is stated in the small letters in the contract.

Where are all the Toyota fanboy apologists? "Toyota cares about enthusiasts. Toyota makes cars for the track. Toyota is into making cool fast cars and not just to make money. Toyota blah blah blah."

You had a tuned and very non-stock engine and also participated in multiple track days. Don’t make it sound like you took your stock Supra to the one free track day as a newb and then Toyota pulled your cars history for no reason just to deny your warranty….

Not a Toyota fan. If you want a real track toy that the manufacturer stands behind- buy a BMW or Porsche

FWIW- My buddy tracked TF out of his 991 GT3. During his ownership, he got a new engine, then about a year later, a new PDK transmission.

He recently sold his GT3 for what he bought it for and took delivery of a 992 GT3.

Two friends I autocross with both have had engines replaced under warranty for failures on track. One was a C7 Corvette Z06 (be easy on me Razor!) and the other a Mustang GT350. The GT350 had two engines replaced. In both cases the dealer and Ford/Chevy were well aware of how the failures occurred. Both cars were stock though.

That is not what I am saying here, that is what you are making of it.
Seems some people don't even have basic reading skills.

First of all, yes your warranty will be voided when going on a track. Evne it is just one trackday.
Telemetry is telemetry. You can't stop 'the signal'.

Secondly, there is a difference between an issue that results due to multiple track sessions/tunes and which in my case is the issue (LINbus error, waterpump not working).

Thirdly, yes a basic tune also void your warranty. The computer checks the hash sums and amount of flashes and compares this to the known official software release hashes and amount of flashes official dealers did to your VIN.

Stop being arrogant and think you know the situation, cause you are not even close.

Correct, Porsche is one of the few brands that accepts warranty due to trackdays.

Sure you can. One of the first things I did was remove the modem and other bits that communicate. I bought the car on a Wednesday and was at the track that Sat- so i had no anticipation of ever having a warranty. Still didn't want the car logging me.

My reading comprehension is just fine. You completely misrepresented your situation. I simply pointed that out.
