Im stuck at not being able to reach the targets, if i raise the FF it touches the WDGC and i get throttle closures.
You don't want it to hit target, you want it close. Typically keeping ecu_psi just 1 psi under dme_bt is most ideal. And actually some cars (including my own), I just ignore dme_bt if its targeting too high and just adjust FF/duty as needed to get ecu_psi into the range I want. 12-17 psi depending on IATs.
Hey guys,

So got it down to E30. Trims still high without really lowering targets. I tried absolute target which really helped out with the trims but got the throttle closures again. What i dont get is how is the DME BT getting so high. Im stuck at not being able to reach the targets, if i raise the FF it touches the WDGC and i get throttle closures. I tried higher targets to atleast get to 22psi. It did raise the boost a bit but i guess throttle closure is stopping it. Appreciate the help. Dyno tuning next week once the WMI reaches. Want to atleast get a map 6 dialed in without the Meth.

This is the additive map E30. Note the high trims at the lower RPMS. I really cant get the boost lower at these rpms, thats why i switched to absolute target.

This is absolute target also with E30 trying to dial it in.

Cheers!

Will post dyno graphs next week.
running e blends, I recommend dropping/tapering boost targets under 4500. Sacrifice the low end torque to be able to run more ethanol for top end power. Like this:

Hello everyone, I see new alpha version JB4 for manual transmission,
question is if I proceed with update will I have to have my custom map6 tunes for 93/e30 adjusted? Thanks in advance!
No, it should stay saved but you can create backups in the app anyway.

While I'm getting caught up here:

Here's another good example of a nicely balanced 93/E30 map. Maybe a little left on the table for power (can sometimes get up to 5.5-6 psi additive), but it is super clean with fuel headroom.

https://datazap.me/u/coloneladama/l...-2-3-4-8-11-14-15-20-25-26-27-28-29&zoom=0-25

Timing is perfect, ecu_psi sitting 14-15psi. Boost ~20 psi. Trims relatively flat and under 40 for most of pull.

for reference, here is where we started before custom tuning:
https://datazap.me/u/coloneladama/l...3-4-8-11-14-15-20-25-26-27-28-29&zoom=607-661

ecu_psi requests too high. Octane too low, WGDC not well tuned.

Not bad at all for an MT on non-MT firmware. Trims are a bit higher than I'd like. Any mods?

Only downside is you are at like 2psi over stock until 4500 so your low and mid range is weak. (need v24 firmware to fix) Top end looks pretty solid. Under-boosting technique, looks like a Jesse tune.

Personally wouldn't recommend any changes because this isn't how i tune MTs, so i would re-do it with additive map on V24 firmware. This is solid enough, just drop your E-content a hair. Trims 45+ is not leaving a ton of headroom. I like to see ~40 on E maps.

So you’re saying i should jump to the alpha release?

Do you see the big throttle cut at 3k? Alpha release fixes that (provided wgdc tuning is dialed in). WGDC control for the JB4 jumps in just before it finishes spooling rather than after like on previous firmware.

You may feel hesitation sometimes if you stomp on the gas quickly, that is the throttle closure.

Nice. Well if you aren't experiencing any hesitations or stutters, especially when temps change, then I'd just keep it as is.
I’m new to this car and turbos, so as far as hesitation I’m not really sure bit I expect that under 3k it is hesitant.
i have experienced having to make a change to FF as my tune was done when it was over 100f everyday and now its 75-85f
i am interested in trying out a e30 tune with your assistance if possible?
i really like the idea of multiple options with this car

Not sure why other JB4 tuners are still using other methods for tuning MTs when we can get it cleaned up instantly on a base map ? If you're gonna charge people hundreds, use my MT solution I spent 6 months figuring out and posting every detail here.

Tons of duty bias work to barely push power over stock till 5k on absolute map, requiring FF changes as temps change (an issue with absolute maps)

Literally just V24 firmware, additive mode, standard duty bias =50, PID=10 (typically recommend 15), and FF=30

Thanks for reaching out Bill! We'll get a little more fine tuning in, but enjoy that added midrange torque!
