7. Performance: Early performance testing seems to support Infinity Design’s engineering philosophy, suggesting that this intake delivers on its promises. For control data I logged IAT at VIR on 11/16 with the stock air intake. Ambient temp was 60F at the time the data was obtained and session length was 20 minutes. IAT with stock system ranged from 83F to 102.2F max during the session after the pulls leading down the back straight. On 11/17 the next day after installing the Infinity Design Intake, I logged the experimental IAT, but this time session length was 30 minutes and the ambient temp was 66F. The max IAT happened during the last lap of the session at the same point during the lap after the pulls leading down the back straight and ranged from 86F to 105.8F. To sum it up, from the control to the experimental data the ambient temp was +6F, the session length was +10 minutes, and the max IAT was in the range of +3F to +3.6F. This suggests that the Infinity Design Intake maintains IAT at least as well as the stock intake system which is a good outcome considering that the stock system is very effective at maintaining IAT on this platform.



Cons:

1. High Cost: The premium quality of the intake comes at a price, making it one of the more expensive options on the market.



2. Lack of Instructions: While installation was straightforward, the absence of clear instructions may pose a challenge for some users, particularly those less experienced with DIY modifications.



3. Longer Lead Time: Due to its exclusivity and made-to-order nature, the lead time can be longer than typical off-the-shelf options. This may require some patience, but the wait is worthwhile.



4. Induction Noise Change: While there is a small noticeable change in the induction noise, those expecting a dramatic increase may be slightly disappointed.

Keep in mind logging IAT after the manifold has very little to do with the intake design, and more to do with the manifold's ability to shed heat. A more scientific and accurate approach would be to log pre-turbo IAT's at the filter. This is hard as most current logging tools cannot log that sensor.

However, you can log the post turbo / pre-intake manifold IAT sensor on the charge pipe and check the delta.

Even though you’ve denied it, hopefully they paid you for that review. Intake looks nice, but for the price it’s insane.

Hell, im insane for paying the $700 for my full carbon armaspeed that does nothing but sounds and looks cool! Should have stayed stock honestly.

I’m not quite that sophisticated yet but I’m getting there… is the data available for that through the OBD2 or the CAN? Or do you use auxiliary sensors?

Hahaha, yeah. They did not pay me for the review and I have no professional relationship with them. I ended up having a long email chain with Salman who used to be with Eventuri and is now the engineer for Infinity Design. The cost was definitely a hard pill for me to swallow but I’m a sucker for the engineering. I really enjoy the way this part is thought out, got curious, and wanted to do this little study. I am getting more into the science and data of things so call it practice but I’d like to do more of this.

The fact that OP keeps saying, "I do not have a professional relationship" actually makes me suspect that he has a casual relationship or at the very least got a discount in exchange for this "review." I mean, lets face it.. pretty much all the "pros" are complete fluff.

Here's the synopsis:

Pros: Looks good; Performs no worse than stock.
Cons: Costs a lot; Long wait time and sounds no better than stock.

Sounds like a complete miss to me. ?‍

Well, this has certainly been helpful for me so far from an educational perspective and I’m being serious. I certainly didn’t mean to offend anyone with that post, I meant to help and add something to the MKV community that I respect and want to participate in, but based on the early feedback from the review it seems that I’m being interpreted as ingenuine. I was legitimately excited to tell the forum that I’d installed an aftermarket CAI that didn’t seem to be worse than the stock one for IAT, which to my understanding from studying information on this forum, is an issue with many aftermarket CAI options.

So anyway, since I like you guys and want you to trust me and know that I am honest and transparent, I am going to post a screenshot of my transaction with infinity design so you can see what I paid for the intake.

I used chat GPT to make a professional sounding article for you to read but I did not allow it to choose the pros and cons, they were entered in with the prompt. I’ve been messing with AI lately to see how it can make me more productive. The testing section in #7 is all me. I did that because I really do have a family and a house and a day job that is not cars, and had already spent a considerable amount of time on my science project, and I really did have to hang Christmas lights. We also put up and decorated two trees, then we went to a community Christmas tree lighting with some friends, so I actually needed to get it done quickly.

I copied and pasted the link from Infinity website, copied and pasted the item description from the Infinity website, and spent a week or two emailing back and forth with the engineer from infinity design before deciding to purchase this unnecessarily expensive part. I found out who he was on a BMW forum by happenstance while reading about eventuri intakes where he used to work. I initially engaged him through the infinity website contact link in mid September. He said it would take six weeks for me to get the part because it was made to order, and he was spot on with the lead time. The only special treatment I really got was that he made the carbon fiber blue to match my car, and gave me enough of a discount that it didn’t cost me extra for the custom color. The intake is $1250 on the infinity design website… please see attached screenshot.

I welcome constructive feedback even if it’s negative because it will help me communicate with the forum better. I’m pretty new to all this and I want a future on the track. I love science projects and I’m not gonna spin data to support a company if they don’t deserve it. I want to contribute to our knowledge about the platform, especially in a motorsports sense.

What I don’t want is for people not to trust me because his is fun, I’m just a guy who likes to drive his car, and we all have a common interest here. I’m not offended, I want people to get to know me.

No need to defend yourself. If anything, you should take anything you see on here with a grain of salt.. and perhaps a whole cup if its got my name attached to it. Having said this, from my perspective, the review was just wildly positive despite a lack of well, wild positives. Sure, it's a nice bit of kit, but ultimately (and dare I say objectively), I feel that in reality there were just way more cons than pros.

Add AI's ridiculously optimistic and positive voice and you have a perfect storm.

Just to put things into perspective, I spent an inordinate amount of money to replace my stock plastic intake lid with a carbon fibre one. Now the truth is that in this particular case there are about 585 cons to a solitary "it looks cool" pro.. but I sure do love looking at that carbon every time I open my bonnet.. err, hood. And that's OK.

Well i appreciate the review i was curious about this intake for a couple months now but could not find any information about a real person who actually owned one. I was hoping it would have been the loudest intake available yet on this platform but sadly its far from it
