When I have auto start stop mode on my Supra. Whenever I come to a stop light, sometimes when I let off the break to drive, it will put the car into neutral and stall the engine. I would then need to cold start the engine in order for it to run. I thought it was a battery/alternator/starter problem but the everything was fine there. Also, sometimes it takes a couple tries to turn on the car. Does anyone have this problem?

How many miles are on your odometer?
Do you always allow the stop/start feature to stay active?

I coded that annoying useless feature off.

How many miles on the car? 4 or 6 cylinder? How do you know that the battery, etc. are all good?

If the car isn't running, how can it stall? So, the sequence must be that the car restarts, you press on the accelerator, and then it stalls? A video would be helpful.

But if it's not the battery, you probably need to see the dealer, or a good mechanic.

The car has around 30K miles. 6 cylinder. Yes, when the auto start stop feature turns the car off, it doesn’t turn back on when I release my foot off the break. It then puts the car in neutral when it does that and then I have to cold start the car

That makes more sense, it doesn't actually stall because it's not running.

What's happening, if I understand this correctly, is that the restart feature is not working. Since it puts the car in neutral, it is recognizing the brake pedal action (note spelling), it just won't start the engine. So it may likely be that the computer thinks something is wrong with the drivetrain, and thinks that you'd be better off without the engine running.

It's a BMW. It thinks that it is smarter than you are. ;)

Have you replaced the battery in this vehicle with perhaps a battery that does not support the automatic start/stop feature?

I only ask because I've ran into this problem a few times with people changing out their own batteries and they end up buying one that does not operate properly with that feature and causes issues.

Just found this thread and I’m literally having the same issue! Did you end up finding out what the issue was? I took it to the dealership and they cleaned the starter electronics. It fixed it for a number of days but now the problem is back.

I am still having the same issue. No fix as of yet. I'm thinking to reprogram the key fob because maybe it is not recognizing the key inside the vehicle. When I have problems starting it, an error message pops up saying the key is not inside.

Do you hear starter click when you try to restart it?

The car is already running so the fob really shouldn't be a factor in what you're experiencing. I see someone asked for a video so we could see exactly what is happening but that hasn't happened yet. I also mentioned that the WRONG battery may be installed as some vehicle DO NOT support that feature.

Sounds like the easiest way to resolve this since you aren't really providing any other details that people have mentioned then I suggest coding out the start stop feature.
