I was driving my bone-stock car home the other day and the following warning came up.

> Drivetrain: Continued driving possible. No Roadside Assistance necessary. Drive power reduced. Make an appointment with your dealer.

6 days before the error, I had taken the car to get an oil change at the dealer and to service a recall.

The warning appeared maybe after a total of about 50 miles driven after getting it back from the dealer.

On the day of the error (50 miles post dealer), I had also re-fuled from about 30 miles remaining to a full tank. I normally fuel with 91-octane, but there's a slim chance I accidentally put 87-octane in (I definitely did not put diesel though)

I tried restarted the car but the issue persisted. I drove it for 10-15 miles and restarted again but the error is still coming on when I turn on the car.

I also didn't drive it for 24 hours but that also didn't help.

I ran BimmerLink on it and it gave me the following codes that occurred around the time my odometer lined up with the error:

  • 21A125: Emergency run manager: Rail operated at low pressure
  • 119304: Rail pressure sensor, plausibility: pressure too high before engine start
  • 118001: Mixture control: Mixture too lean

From my understanding, 21A125 is the error code that is causing the warning to appear in the first place.

Has anyone else experience this before or have any suggestion on how to continue?

Thanks!

have you cleared the code and run the car again? Or just shut the car off and restarted it?

I haven't cleared the codes but that was my next step, I just didn't want to clear just in case someone suggested something

I've restarted the car a couple times now but the warning comes up every time I start the engine.

Clear codes first. If they pop back up it sounds like a high pressure fuel pump or psi sensor issue.

I had the same error message on the dash. Below is a summary of what the issue was for me. I have no idea if this is your issue, good luck though:

There were two problems, both caused by me: The first was the cold air intake, where it connects to the turbo/engine was loose letting in more air than necessary and thus was throwing a lean code. The second was that after doing the spark plug change, I did not re-clip the high-pressure fuel pump sensor and it was loose thus throwing a fuel system code. The dealer removed the cold air intake and reinstalled the factory air intake and "fully seated" the fuel pump connector. The car is back to normal.

Thanks for the replies y'all. Took it to the dealer hoping that everything would be covered under warranty.

They ran a full diag and they found nothing. The tech said the fuel level was probably too low at one point, nevertheless they didn't find anything wrong.

They reset the codes and the light hasn't come on again.
