My daughter’s fiancé just got a Tesla Model 3 performance. Only in his neighborhood, almost home, he lets it auto drive. I gotta admit, it’s cool as shit. He’ll only do it if there is no one around. He’s a mega chill guy, not a big risk taker, etc. Regardless, I think it should only be allowed in ultra low traffic areas at very slow speeds. And with the disclaimer that you might have to grab the wheel or mash the brakes at anytime.

So really he should just drive it at all times lol. The autopilot needs to die. Its neither.

The Tesla autopilot is dope but far from being a finished product. In my friends Model 3 Performance and we went over a long intersection while using auto pilot and it grabbed the lines to the lane to the right of us instead of the lane we were in and it immediately "corrected" its position by merging us right into an old Toyota pick-up, luckily the pick-up was able to slam on his breaks and avoid the collision (he expressed himself with the use of his horn and a certain finger) but fortunately nothing happened. Turned off auto pilot immediately after that. This was a few years ago though so maybe its gotten better.

My guess would be that like most things, it will & has improved over time. He only uses it in his really desolate neighborhood. He’s on the water, homes spaced far apart & no one around- pulling into the house. She did say it does show available parking spots in a lot and you can touch the one you want on the screen and it will park itself. I wouldn’t let it do that either unless no one was around and not between other cars.

It does preform music light shows as well. They showed me one sitting in the driveway. Pretty amazing. Just for fun ofc. I’ve never seen one do that before. Assuming that’s new.

The self-parking is some real cool tech not gonna lie definitely admire Tesla for pushing boundaries. The light shows sounds like fun too just a little "for shits and giggles" party trick.
