I’ve been trying to troubleshoot an issue and wondering if anyone else out there has had to replace a direct injector? I’m currently getting these codes:

114102 - Rough running, cylinder 1: Fuel-air mixture too rich.

118002 - Mixture control: Fuel-air mixture too rich.

144055 - Rough running cylinder, mixture too rich: Multiple fault.

- DME shadow (inactive) codes -

11CF30 - Mixture control: Multiple fault.

I’ve replaced the plugs with NGK iridium and gapped to .022. When I’ve switched around coils and plugs to see if it follows I no longer get a specific cylinder and it’s just the generic 118002 - Mixture control: Fuel-air mixture too rich.

My symptom is a rough idle and it sounds a bit like a Subaru.

Ok. Probably information for the original post.

Did you have anything to add other than to critique my post?

No except that to get sensible answers you need to provide ALL the relevant information. I mean it's troubleshooting 101 for a high school kid, seriously.

I am really trying to not be a dick but I'm asking a simple question. Has anyone had to replace a direct injector? I only have 20,000 miles and don't have any crazy mods so I thought it was very premature. Thanks to anyone that can actually help.

did you always have the running rich issue since port injection swap? On your tune, when are the port injectors active?

No I’ve been running port injection since April 2024 and it’s been fine. I did a pull a few weeks ago and it went into engine protection mode. Since then it’s been misfiring and throwing the above codes. Port injection is active as throttle increases, and generally doesn’t spray at all at idle which is when I’m experiencing the issue.

This sounds much more like a port injection issue. What do your logs say?
According to Justin at Twisted Tuning my logs don’t indicate any issue. My AFR bounces a bit but sits in the mid 14’s at idle but still can tell it’s running rough.

I would first do a check on both sets of injector wiring, if all good do a leak down test on the cylinders, if that checks out, pull the OEM injectors and flow test them

Good suggestion, before doing that I wanted to see if my MHD logs could indicate which cylinder(s) were misfiring. Any idea how to add that to the parameters? I didn't see misfire counter in the parameter list.

You could use the MG Flasher mobile app to log those items if MHD doesn't have them. (you just need to create a free account to use it)
