Hey Guys,
I am adding a CAN data logger to the Supra and am wondering if anyone has a recommended location to tap into the CAN bus lines? It looks like there are a few to pick from in the passenger footwell area. I need the engine parameters and stability control parameters (Wheels speeds, steering angle , brake pressure, and engine stuff) for the data system.
Has anyone put together a CAN list for the car yet?
Thanks,
Mike

I'd love to see this! Looks like nobody is on board just yet though.

You can find, very easily, the PT-CAN Bus wires behind the passenger kick panel. There will be a very prominent wire bundle just above the carpet that has the CAN bus pair in it. They are the yellow/white and yellow/black twisted pair.

So far I’ve been able to map: TPS (Pedal Position), RPM, Steering Angle, Brake Pressure, And Brake Pedal Position.

Next on the list of Channels to Map is: Current Gear.

Going to bring this idea of a can list back from dead perhaps. Anyone else interested in this as a public knowledge base?

It already is? I have a shared spreadsheet. Unless I don't understand what you mean by that statement.

Eh...kinda sort of. I guess I'm just looking for different can data. I dont have a factory dme nor most of the modules so trying to decipher what I can use and not use. There is some there but that list is more for use as a data logger setup from the factory car.

What are you trying to datalog? What are you using to operate the car if not the OEM DME?

It would be helpful if you could elaborate more with actual details.

Motec, not really for datalogging thats easy. This is more to operate other things and see if i can do it without all the rest of the bmw nonsense in there. Again was hoping for a starting point which isn't around so ill just do it the old fashioned way.

So are you just looking into taping into the CAN network in the car or is that also no longer there? What is this elusive "starting point" you keep referencing?

The fsctory components are there that i want to use. Thisbis a question of trying to grt them to talk to each other. The hardware is capable...we think, but its whether the juice is worth the squeeze trying to use factory abs and factory steering rack, etc. The car is being rewired completely so no factory can bus remains.

I still have no idea what your actual question is. If there is no CAN bus then I am confused why you posted in this thread.

The fact it’s taken like five posts asking and things are still unclear makes me think you might not even know what you are trying to do.
