I'm going to preface this with the fact that Alec and I have both gone over this over FaceTime. It is a singular issue, and is in no way shape or form an issue with remnants quality.
I am having an issue with the remnant PI Plate hitting the water manifold. It can be seen with the orange marking. I had to take quite a bit of material off the PI plate fuel rail to get it to fit, and still only have about 1.5mm of clearance all around(luckily I didn't go through but idk if I'd trust 80psi of fuel not to break through ? regardless we're using port injection through the intake manifold). Alec was kind enough to send another PI Plate to test fit and it was hitting the manifold as well. He also offered a full refund, even though it was modified and pretty much installed, but we declined as I appreciate the build quality and research gone into the product.
My question is, does anyone know of any revisions done to either the oem water manifold or the intake manifold deck on the head? I dont think its an issue with the water manifold though because even with the pi plate clearing, the manifold still sits too low. Client has owned the car since new, and Im the only shop that has worked on it or modified it. I've worked on quite a few mkvs and even more b58s so im not inexperienced but i also dont know everything. Can anyone send a borescope down underneath to show how much clearance they have so I can attempt to replicate it?
The intake manifold sits too low even with the modified PI plate rail & phenolonic spacer, and pulling the oil filter out is gonna require loosening the intake manifold. I have probably 1-2 threads remaining when the oil filter housing hits the Remnant intake manifold. It did however pass a 20 psi smoke test but we plan on pushing quite a bit more then that with this build, so we will see.
It's a gorgeous manifold though ?.
