Before I stick my DME in a box and send it off to FEMTO, I was wondering what prep, if any I should consider. New spark plugs seem to be a common recommendation. I also figure disconnecting the battery prior to pulling the DME.

Would it be prudent to update to the latest iStep first?
Anything else?

If you can get your local dealer to do an iSTEP update -- Sure. Because if you do it in the future, it'll lock the DME.

Or go the route of doing your own iSTEP updates with ISTA on your own.

Add an airtag (if using an iOS device) onto the DME if you're sending it on your own and not hand delivering.

I got mine unlocked with Femto during one of their many trips to Dubai, they didn’t even disconnect battery, just pulled the DME straight out, fiddled with it for 30s in a back room, and put it back in

They seem to come to Dubai very often (2 times in 2024)

Hey BMWAF, Please do a step by step on how the process was from your perspective. Really curious how it goes in 2025 for folks planning on doing it this year (like me).

I just placed a soft t-shirt in the hatch area to keep it mostly closed (could have left open as its garaged but keep dust etc out).

Also I made sure doors were unlocked and hood up.

Very straight forward process. Just make sure the harness molex leads lock back into the DME when you reinstall it so they don't potentially come loose while driving - give them a little tug they can appear locked and not be.

Plugs every 40k (unmodded) every 20k (modded from what most say with the most miles on their tuned cars) A lot would depend on driving habits after tuned.

Outside of that congrats! Your supra is about to wake up after a long slumber!

You may be very aware of all these things but I figured I'd put it here for those in the future to possibly come across as well.

Yeah I will hit up a local dealer. Would love to do the update myself and am usually pretty good at stuff like that but I'm not sure I'm up for it. I know I'll lose stop/start coding but maybe the update will improve other things?

Good call with the airtag too.

Yeah. We'll see how I go - I don't mind a write up rant when I'm in the mood. ?

Cheers mate. Thanks for the insights - I'm a little sad because once Femto is done, I'm really looking at the finished version of my car. And now that I've found out Ariel Atom's are street legal in Australia, I'm debating how reasonable it would be to spend a positively stupid amount of money to relegate the Supra to a daily. ?

Im at the finished version of my car too, I could mod more but im not pushing it to the point it doesn’t feel OEM+++. I want the fun and dependability so im good where I’m at now, can’t wait for you to experience the difference in a stock and tuned Supra as its worlds different.

Youre asking this now?
*then.

And yes. I'm always happy to defer to more knowledgeable folk. Just because I sent a million messages doesn't make me an expert. ?‍♂
