UPDATE: I purchased the downstream O2 sensor recommended and the CEL returned two days later with the same code

I installed the Active Autowerke catted downpipe and tuned with MHD. I selected 'aftermarket dp' in the MHD configurations and followed the break in procedure provided by AA. After a week of no CEL it appeared and comes and goes randomly by majority of the time is there. I did not manually clear the code for over a month and it never went away.

The downpipe was very expensive and purchased with the intent of not having a CEL. Is there a known fix? I see conflicting reports regarding replacing the O2 sensor. I called AA and they said this particular code wasn't related to the downpipe I'm not sure if that's true since if I were to put the stock one back it would go away.

Thanks in advance!

Replacing the after cat O2 sensor was what AA suggested to me as well. I just ordered the sensor, so I’ll report back once I’m able to swap it out. FYI the Toyota part number is 89465WAA02 for xref and appears to be available a bit cheaper than the equivalent BMW part. I have an order into a Toyota dealership.

In the interim, I’ve been able to avoid the CEL by keeping revs down until the engine is warmed up.

Make sure it's the one I linked. I bought the wrong one initially, because I didn't realize there was a different sensor for gen1 vs gen2. Be sure to get the gen2 sensor.

edit: I missed where you said you got it from Toyota. They should be giving you the correct one if you told them your car's model year. I think the 2020 is a gen1 B58 (I could be wrong though. I just know my 2022 is a gen2)

Just to clarify. 2020 is still a B58TU, but it’s a 2-port exhaust as opposed to the later 6-port design that immediately followed. Everything else is the same though as far as I’m aware. Either way, I ordered based on year, make, model, and VIN from Toyota Parts Overstock / Lakeland Toyota. I’ve ordered previous parts from them before and never had any issues, so hopefully the same in this case. ??.

I'm fairly certain my 2020 is a Gen 2, B58TU (B58B30C). Will that sensor you linked work for me? Also do you know the reason as to why this even happens lol?

CrimsonSupra says all Supra's are gen2. If that's true, then the one I linked will work for you, but I can't guarantee that's your issue for sure.

I have an AA catted DP and it started throwing a CEL shortly after installation. I had followed AA's break-in procedures, and I never get on the gas before the car is up to temps. I would clear the CEL with JB4, but it kept coming back after a few days/drives. I called AA and told them the code I was getting. They told me to replace the downstream O2 sensor.

I haven't had the code return since replacing the sensor. I hadn't even cleared the code prior to installing the new sensor. The code just went away on its own after the new sensor was installed, so I'm pretty confident the sensor was my problem.

Sometimes (rarely, from what I've heard), it's the DP itself. If changing the sensor doesn't resolve the issue, AA will replace the DP for free.

Got it. How long ago did you replace the sensor, just curious

A week ago, on the 14th. Keep in mind that I didn't clear the CEL to make it go away after installing the new sensor. The CEL was there with the old sensor, and went away on its own when the system saw the new sensor.

I suppose it's possible it could still return, but it was coming back every 1 -2 days with the old sensor. Pretty sure I'm good now. It's been a week with no CEL.

I had this same code pop up and I contacted AA. They suggested I replace the sensor so I did and for the last week the CEL has been off. Hoping it stays that way but so far so good.

Where did you purchase the sensor from? It's 280~ from dealer but I see overstock sites listing for low 200s. Want to make sure I'm actually getting the OEM part.

Is AA suggesting people damaged the sensor? No way it’s gone bad with how new our cars are. I’ve never had an issue with mine, but would think sensor last in this scenario.

Hope it works for others!

The code isn't related to Cat efficiency, it makes sense that with the added heat coming through the downpipe that the downstream sensor would marginally degrade.

I think it's dependent how new the sensor is which would explain why some people don't have the issue.

I wonder how many miles the sensor can last with an AA dp.

How many miles do people have on the AA catted dp?

I just got mine so 1k miles, lol
