The last time I used a car cover outdoors, despite being a breathable solution, it trapped sufficient moisture under the cover that it caused milky hazing in the clearcoat of my classic Suzuki. This was a rather expensive problem.

But my Supra also lives outdoors, and I would love to give it a little protection. Nobody in this thread has had paint or clear coat issues? I have diet trauma about this.
I’ve considered putting a cover on my car as it will be sitting for 6+ months. But know I’m skeptical. Especially being in the humid Florida environment. I’ve had it sat for 6 months before with no cover and noticed a lot of moisture coming out of the exhaust pipe for prolly a 50-150miles after driving it again.

Mine has sat under the cover for a couple months at a time. Since I don't have a garage, i keep it covered most of the year, but I am taking the cover off weekly during most of the year. I have rarely noticed any moisture building up under the cover, though i have seen some.

Some moisture out of the exhaust is normal pretty much all the time. Water is a byproduct of combustion.

If you can use a dehumidifier with a breathable car cover for dust and, optionally, a desiccant inside the car would be your best bet. The really large desiccants would need to be changed often. So the dehumidifier would be your best bang for the dehumidifying buck. Set it to 50-55%, depending on how hard you think it’ll be running.

We have extra insulation on our garage doors & ceiling, with a fan blowing up into the attic. Coupled with the dehumidifier. It definitely helps the cars and anything else you’re keeping in there during these hottest 6 months.
