Issues with steering feel , there is a little play .

Picked up a new 2026 final edition auto. Traded in 2021 3.0 premium and notice there is a play in steering wheel . Feels a lot different than my old 21 . Any idea why would a brand new car have steering play? Had 9 miles when I got it.

May need to tighten the nut on the steering rack.

there is an steering rack adjustment that is super sensitive. it's possible that it was improperly adjusted from factory.

If you're on good terms with your dealership, talk to them and see if they will adjust it for you. Couldnt hurt to ask for an alignment afterwards as well.

But it’s brand new car and my 21 I bought new never had issues . Why would this feel any different? Did they changed the steering feel for 26?

The FE gets reprogrammed EPS and other things. What kind of play are you actually experiencing? Do you have a video of it?

I don’t know it’s like when I drive and turn it has a play like a sprinter van or something not as sharp turning . It’s like there is a room in steering they forgot to tighten .

they did:

• "differential control and exclusive control maps" i guess refined sport traction mode,
• larger Brembo brake discs,
• refined suspension,
• refined chassis,
• -30mm/-0.5° knuckles (probably),
• revised dampers (seemingly actual part, not just EDC tuning),
• "stronger" (thicker?, solid?) front sway bar,
• strengthened rubber bushings for front control arms & mounts for rear subframe,
• "stronger" under-body brace,
• and supposed "optimized"/tuned power steering

So would that explain that loose steering feel? Why go backwards? My 21 had sharper steering feel like when u turn a little car turns right away this one it’s like a delay / play for steering .

Tried both , gets little tighter on sport but not as tight like my old 21 was . My old 21 had tighter normal mode steering and even tighter sport . Idk what’s going on but one member said they noticed it as well idk if it’s just us maybe some one with final edition can confirm this would be great! Don’t wanna take it to Toyota they don’t know this car and treat it like it’s Corolla .

Are you saying it has like a dead spot right off center? So not loose, but not responsive until getting through that dead zone?

Correct! Yes! That’s what I mean exactly. Is this normal?

No idea, I haven't driven a FE yet. They do have updated/different EPS programming than the rest.

Did you happen to check for those transport spacer things & see if they‘re still installed?

I have a 26 final edition and compared to my 24, the steering feels the exact same, while the suspension has been tightened considerably and the rear end feels more stable.

The changes are subtle but very noticeable and make the car feel great. I’m not sure what you’re noticing, but it’s certainly not the experience I’m having with my FE
