After driving my MT im not a fan of the holders... My elbow seems to naturally want to be inside it. Its uncomfortable too. I want a padded insert that is better than the japanese GR cover

If you get this perfected for the shape at the top of the holders, Im getting one. and ill have it leather padded. Great work btw! I was going to get on this myself if someone else wasnt.
This is the one I have currently I updated it to make it fit a bit better have a 2 piece option and one with a GR logo

Will this work with the OEM leather cover, to give it a solid backing? I'm tired of my elbow falling in the cupholder, and it sounds like the OEM cover isn't meant for resting your elbow on it.

I've been using the OEM cover for months for elbow support with no issue. They are pretty solid.

I’ll try out the OEM cover then, and look at ordering this if I find it bending.

Where did you get your cover? Are we able to order the OEM one through Toyota, or do we still have to order from third party sites in Japan?

I did one in Fusion 360 and 3d printed in ASA and then carbon skinned it. I'll see if i can find the files and put up on cult3d or something. Only thing that sucks is when you need the cup holder, i pop it out and put behind the passenger seat.

It came with my car. The part number on the box was 08281-14810. They are way overpriced if you ask me. But the material feels nice and it's going cushioning. I also like that it's sectioned. I'm not sure when they will be available through the official Toyota Parts Center network. The Toyota Parts Deal site has it, but I've never purchased anything through that site.

I just went to the car to take a look at it. You would have to purposely put a significant amount of weight on them to cause damage. No way that resting your elbow or using it as support to reach over into the passenger side would cause it to fold.

This is cool! I'm going to have to buy a 3d printer. What do you mean by carbon skin? Can you post a link of what carbon skin is?

It's just putting a layer of carbon +epoxy over the print. Here's a great video on how it's done.
