2020 Supra
Just posting because I'm excited while I wait for the next financial mistake to ship from Carmax. Right at the start of covid I made an impulse purchase of a 2020 Supra that had been sitting at the dealer for months and got a pretty good deal on it (~$50k otd) since they needed it gone for the 2021's allocation. I lived right next to the Blue Ridge Parkway and would take it up in the mountains every single weekend. Later moved to the midwest, bought a house, and decided I should get something "practical". Been through a 2022 Elantra N and currently have a 2023 Golf R. Nothing compared to how much enjoyment I got out of the Supra.

This week I saw a 2022 CF Edition in Nitro Yellow pop up on Carmax with a single owner and no mods that also happened to be cheaper than any used one around me. Said screw it and having it shipped locally. Excited to have a Supra again and let me be an example of never selling a car you love.

Its actually a great car, but is just a little too boring 90% of the time. The new diff makes them much more fun on a back road and the interior complaints are pretty overblown. I dont trust the thing to not be a money pit past the warranty though. It hauls some serious ass and the bigger turbo is weirdly old school turbo car feeling.

Gti is a great car. Good gas mileage, cheap, quick and a hatchback so good utility
Mk7 is my daily, FBO was faster than my supra was stock 😂 35 mpg highways too. roomy, easy to see out of. power-on understeer is atrocious, though it handles well generally.

It's a nice humble car to drive when you don't want to be "that guy" in the loud sportscar.

also 100k mi had since new, tuned since 10k, never had an issue besides the stock clutch going out.

honestly mk8 R and supra would make a helluva combo

I hate all hatchbacks equally. The body style just looks ass ugly to me, no pun intended. It’s like a sport compact or a sedan trying to cosplay as an SUV.

Admittedly there's a small handful of hatchbacks that I do kind of like (i.e. the Ford Focus RS), but I can agree that a lot of them are ugly. The Veloster N is hideous to me and screams "I wanted a Civic Type R but mom said no"

I've already picked up 2 things this week that would not fit in a sedan but fit in the GTI.

Hatchback is a replacement for a crossover, and it looks far better than almost any of them (and performs better, better mpg, better dynamics, etc)

Honestly, the only hatchbacks that don’t make me want to gouge my eyes out are the Kia EV6 and the new Tesla Model Y Juniper, even though that’s technically in the compact SUV category. That’s where the hatchback styling belongs. Gun to my head and forced me to buy a true hatchback? I’d probably choose the Volkswagen Scirocco. But I’d still hate myself and wonder... why didn’t I just buy an SUV instead.

Not a Corvette.

MK7's are great cars. I loved my GTI and we still have a MK7.5 alltrack.

The MK8's are basically SUV's and I'm not a fan overall.

With a gun to your head, you would buy a car from 33 years ago with 120hp? Why don't I believe you?
lol third gen. The third gen looks pretty good. A shame VW stopped making them and its not available in the US.
