I am looking at both options. My question is….
On driveshaft shop recommends getting the loop and new guibo for carbon fiber option.
The aluminum driveshaft (different company) mentions no need for a loop and new guibo.
If i get the aluminum driveshaft, is the loop and new guibo necessary like for the carbon fiber driveshaft?

the loop is a safety item just encase for some reason the driveshaft broke or wasnt torque down and falls down the loop holds it up. if not good luck when that driveshaft drops while driving lol
usually when driveshaft has issues its from the guibo so might as well replace it when you replace driveshaft

If your car is driven for any more than a couple minutes at a time, do not waste your money on a carbon fiber driveshaft. The driveshaft on our cars is dangerously close to the exhaust. It can and will melt the bonding agent used to secure the carbon tube to the yokes. Ask me how I know.

Seems strange, literally every other RWD car has their driveshaft and exhaust travel through the tunnel in close proximity, most of the time without a heatshield that the supra does.

to be fair, if I've learned anything from my years of owning an N54, its not surprising it'd be a Vargas product experiencing a failure

Not a Corvette.
Yup, that has more to do with it being a pile of shit Vargas product than anything else. All Vargas parts are piles are crap. He is also a pile of crap. Trash person, trash company.

That said, that looks like a PST driveshaft.

Nope. When has Vargas ever warrantied one of their products that failed?

You are correct. Vargas had PST make the shafts and then they were paired with VTT’s billet yoke to guibo adapters.

delete the guibo if you're bothering with an aftermarket ds. the factory guibo doesnt last over 700hp anyway

There are no guibos with this setup. They are deleted in favor of billet aluminum adapters that bolt straight to the diff and trans.
