I probably have ~2k miles on my 305/35/19 Michelin Super Sport tires. Something in the road blew one of my tires (luckily I seem to have avoided any other damage though I can't confirm for sure until tire comes off my wheel). Before I get to spending $$ wanted to poll the group on a few things:

- I've never loved the Super Sports and on here people seem to prefer the PS4S and Continental Extreme 02. Any good reason if I am not tracking I need to stay with the Super Sports to match the front? Leaning towards the Continental if not.

- Operating under the assumption that I should just replace both rear tires, regardless of where the tread is at, but throwing it out there in case anyone wants to explain if over a certain tread wear amount I am fine just replacing one (would be same tire in that case).

- Before I go read back through the long tire pressure sensor monitor thread...should I just buy stock sensors? I bought non-oem sensors based on that thread where at least one person stated they worked...but they never fully connected for me. So they would never give me detailed tire pressures (and threw an error) but they were still capable of giving me a low pressure warning when the tire blew. I figure I'll go about getting those swapped out while I'm at it, I'm tired of the warning popping on the dash.

I think I'd be measuring the tread depth of the blown and good tyre before I spent money replacing a near new rear tyre just for matching purposes.

I have ordered a tread depth gauge but until I get some opinions on acceptable tread depth difference between tires for an aggressively driven sports car it won't be very useful. I've got the Copilot suggestions but wanted to get some opinions on the forum of pros/cons. If this was my truck I wouldn't hesitate just replacing one.

2k miles? You still have 7k left? I swapped a continentals to see if I get a little bit better tire wear and so far I don't have anything conclusive. The Continental 02s handle way better and corners where I used to slide I just stick. The pilot sports were a great tire but the Continentals give me much more assurance and seem to be more linear through the corner. They actually let me know when I'm getting ready to give away, where is the pilot sports just give away. You just need to buy a new tire and do more burnouts on that side and then you'll make then even! For the cost, probably bite the bullet on another Michelin. 2/32 difference in thread wear might matter a little but anything less like 1/32 you can't tell.

FWIW, somewhat similar dilemma. Previous owner let the alignment go and chewed up the front tires. I ordered a *used* set off Pilots off ebay, about $480 for a set of 2 with 8/32 tread depth and installed locally - warranty included. OEM sensor or aftermarket (Gorilla), they both worked for me.

(Update - corrected the price, used these tires are around $200 each at 8/32 tread, new is 9/32 to 11/32. Mount and balance was $40/each at a local tire shop.)

Not trying to push more tire options, just wanted to throw in my two cents. I went with the Yokohama Advan Apex V601s and honestly they feel just as good as the Continental ExtremeContact 02s to me.

I don’t track my car and rarely hit the canyons, but I’ve had them for about a year and a half now and can safely say they’ve been great tires overall.

Also kind of a cool side note Yokohama tested the Apex V601 on an A90 Supra, so I feel like they pair really well with the platform. Just my opinion though.
