Hrmmm I can kind of see it, but I'm not sure if it's just the angle of the picture in the catalog / the lighting and blurry quality in a lot of these photos. Look at the 5:29~5:53 mark of this video for a better shot of the seat:

Are you saying that front part of the base (i.e., the black portion of the base that is further away from the backrest) is leather in the original photo you posted whereas it's Alcantara in the Japanese version? It's kind of hard to tell from photos which material is being used sometimes. Other than perhaps that, what's in the video linked above looks like the seat in the OP to me.
I think you’re right. It does look the same. Here is why I brought it up in the first place. I bought, from Toyota the first set of launch edition red leather seat covers as spares.

The funny thing is that when I got them, they were actually these ones showing here on the Japanese site. When I talked to Toyota about it they said that the part numbers were correct but now had been superseded by a new part number. This lead them to believe that originally the launch additions were going to come with this two-tone leather seat.

Then at some point they decided to switch it to an all red seat for the black and white cars and and all black seat for the red cars? This was their only explanation as they said there was no way they would have gotten these leather seat covers.

Needless to say, I think I am going to have them installed on my car because I really really like them.

Yeah, I definitely like the two-tone ones more than the all-red or all-black ones and wish that the LEs has come with that option. That’s interesting what Toyota told you... does that mean that if something happens to the red LE seats you can never get them again? (Or was the part # previously for the Japan two-tone seats but it’s since been changed to that of the one-color ones?)

The two-tone seat part number has been superseded by the “all one color” part number. If anyone wants those part numbers just send me a message and I will give them to you. There are currently none left in the country as they only made one set so far.

Once they explained what they thought happened, I went and ordered the red set as well.
