To start, Titan DP and bm3 Stg2 91 OTS tune. It’s been on the car running with no issue for almost a month now. Drove to dinner a bit ago and everything was fine on the drive there and back.

Get home and start pulling into the driveway and notice that throttle response is much slower, slight change in engine volume, almost as if it was running in limp mode, but no CEL or messages on the dash. Go to check codes, nothing unusual. Try to reflash the map, no change, but when I got out of the car to try and lock it and shut everything off, the alarm immediately starts going off. Again, no dash messages or anything, but when I unlock it, red LED in the rear view is constantly flashing.

Decide to flash it back to stock, no improvement, problems still present. Finally go and reset the DME, now it’s all back to normal. What the hell?! Anyone else ever experience anything like this??

Question? Does flashing the ecu void the warranty or can you return it back to stock to get warranty back?

There is a flash counter and a high value memory. It’s very easy to see these cars have been flashed and boost has been turned up even if it’s back on the stock tune.

So you think its a bad idea to use to bm3 if I want to keep warranty for the time being?

If you’re worried about power and drivetrain warranty I would skip it for now. I’m on the edge of wanting to use bm3 as well but I think I’m going to give it a while and be sure no ones car breaks while tuned. There are a lot of people having good luck right now so fingers crossed the stage 2 tunes hold up!

It’s been pretty trouble free so far, think this issue I had was just random ass one time occurrence.

The only thing I can think of that may have pissed it off, but for some reason didn’t trigger any visible faults, is trying to get the car over some ice in front of my driveway. Immediately after is when I noticed the change in throttle response.

Flashed the Stg2 tune back onto it the next day and have had no more problems with it. One thing some people on the FB groups think may have caused the alarm portion is that I left the OBD cable and computer plugged in.

In addition to the Supra I have a Audi RS3. Like the Supra guys have managed to really tune the hell out of this engine, some are running 8 second times on built engines but getting high 10s with just tunes.

Audi has been aggressive in every RS3 which has come in on warranty, recalls etc to flag the cars TD1 if the counter on the ECU is 2 or more. TD1 means denial of warranty service.

I like the idea of easy power but only on my daily , a 2019 JCW did I do a Dinan tune because my actual dealer did it. Don't do this if you're not prepared to pay for any problems.

What is fascinating is last year my Porsche dealership where I have bought 7 cars denied a repair on my GT3 blaming it on a track event that Porsche itself sponsored. I am a lawyer, my dealer knows I am lawyer and I said my stance was you sold me a motorsports car designed for the track and then do this? a few calls and it got sorted but all of these manufacturers with turbocharged engines ( not my GT3) are looking for ECU modifications because frankly its costing them a lot of money.
