I used to say that it doesn’t matter for a sports car or even a fast car. Even if no one looks at MPG, I will say that it does make a noticeable difference between a car that gets 15mpg and one that gets 22mpg.

I have two cars, one gets ~22mpg and the other gets ~30mpg. Whether or not I feel like counting or looking at the gas gauge, there is a gas consumption difference that is noticeable after daily driving each for multiple weeks.

Makes a huge difference if you’re daily driving it. Perhaps not as noticeable if you have a garage queen, but you get the drift.

22mpg city for a car that should do 0-60 in 3.9secs is pretty remarkable IMO. You could probably count the (non hybrid and gasoline only) cars that can do that with one hand.

Agreed, but we're talking about ONE combined MPG difference lol. Not 7, or 12,.... 1. Like seriously, who cares.

Danny boy, sit, calm down. I don't know where you got to thinking everyone is comparing the MPG of the 2020 Supra to the 2021. In fact, what I am saying is that the A90 (both 2020 and 2021) has impressive MPG for its performance. I know you're excited about putting a deposit on a 2021 Supra, but nobody is attacking that car. It's ok, buddy, we're all friends here.

Arrogant response as are many of your self-gloating posts. Trust me, big shot, it's not about being able to afford gas. Some of us don't want to fill up after every drive, actually care about how much carbon footprint we are leaving behind, or can appreciate any money saved. I don't think identifying with any of those reasons precludes us from being a car enthusiast.

You drive an RX8. It's clear where you stand with MPG. Let's agree to disagree.

You said you wouldn't care if the car got 40mpg or 10mpg and that others shouldn't buy a sports car if that matters. I would absolutely not buy the car if it got 10mpg so I guess I should buy a Prius. That basically seemed to be your point.

No, 1mpg doesn't matter.

Always baffles me to see threads on sportscar/supercar forums about MPG. If MPG is important, you're shopping in the wrong market. I couldn't care less if it has 40 MPG, or 10. Not what the car is for.
I wouldn't care. I didn't say that, I said if MPG is important, you're shopping in the wrong market. I didn't say you have to be ok with 10 MPG, I said I would be. "Basically" get your facts straight.

You don't see the contradiction in what you're saying? I mean I'm ok with it, doesn't really matter. Still though, my facts are straight, I'm telling you what the perception was. If you don't wanna accept that then cool, but let's not start putting random words in quotes for no reason.

Things got escalated here for no reason and I think that was started by that other guy. Seems like he's a bit stressed from the Rona. I don't care about any of this and generally agreed with your original post, but was just pointing out how some of your statements were being taken. Also it's been a little bit entertaining. Let's be friends though. I think that Refraction blue is gonna be nice, can't wait to see it.

Agreed, cabin fever getting to all of us lol. I didn't mean it to be perceived that way. I'll just say I think it's a non issue for a sports car and leave it at that. Mine will be my daily driver, and the price at the pump is just a necessity to enjoy her to the fullest. In my opinion, when I see a gorgeous Ferrari, or a Corvette ZR1, whatever, being putzed around at 10 MPH below the speed limit, I cry on the inside. It's like sacrilege to me. It's one step above parking them and not touching them at all lol. Granted, the Supra doesn't fall into that exclusive car category, but if they were mine, they'd see redline every time I'd drive them.
Not doing so is like Slash from Guns N' Roses only playing the low E string... sure it's music, but look at how much is left untouched. Anyway I'm happy to see the plant has opened back up and restarted production. I can't wait to see her at the showroom.

Here’s to hoping the 2021 owners don’t become the douchebags of the community that turn this forum into a drama fest lol.
Liked your original post :)

I was surprised that the Toyota figures for the Supra showed it was more economical than the GT 86 I had, & it is

It's SOME of the 2020 owners who made it a drama fest the second they found out the 21 would be more powerful etc. Or did you miss the whole "bums me out thread"? Wasn't made by a prospective 21 owner.

Nope I saw it. I really don’t care who made that thread because there was actually no war/drama between 20 vs 21 owners in there. The way it should be my guy

The way I see it is we all drive Supra’s here. Your tiny bump in HP and higher rev band vs my red mirror caps doesn’t make us any cooler than each other.
