The bar floats in the plastic mounts it sits between, it is not adding any integrity whatsoever. Take it out, replace it, whatevs. I replaced mine with a cusco for more seat clearance
This is what I believe the 'clunk' a lot of people experience is puling into/out of angled driveways etc - that bearing binding up or installed improperly.
Agree with your droop assessment. That thin metal cased in plastic would get insta crushed.
every car is different. does seem to be more then most, but only on that one side.
Only has 2* in it now, but we changed over to a street/drag alignment after deciding not to road race the car. The bearing hat was slightly dinged but not as bad as yours, as I've had the struts out since...
Sometimes chunking/peeling like that can be the tire overheating in that area. Are you using a pyrometer? (get one) As you already suggested, more camber would likely help - but you may also be overdriving the tires (adding heat). If they're just peeling on the shoulder like that I'd assume its...
I can get -4 and -3.7 fully maxed out on stock springs. There is a little slop on the actual strut mounts too, so loosening/tightening the four nuts with the plate pushed to the inside will probably net some tiny amount also because you are moving it a mm or two.
Ball end allen as mentioned. My normal 27 socket fit fine, idk. it's a 12 point so maybe not as thick? For 3) are you talking about the smaller strut top nut?
It sounds like he wants less camber for more straight line contact patch, which makes sense if he does a lot of drag racing. Concur on needing upper arms to get close to -1 (or 0), especially with a lowered car.
It makes a huge difference on the drag strip, but likely won't for your street...
Went different direction. Under 50 miles (just to alignment rack and back). Logos still showing. No heat cycles/track time. All four are 19*10 (oe rear fit)
Wheels all have oe bmw/supra tpms and are in good to excellent condition.
These are autocross/Road race super200 tires
$2100 in...
Nothing to add to the good discussion here other then I put on a BMR brace today, it took 20 minutes. Kit was good.
Rwense's brace looks nice, and I like the large drain plug access hole on it.
