QUESTION: I hear that if you have a 2020 ( pre June - tunable ECU) then BM3 is a plug-n-play option BUT if your dealer flashes the ECU for the brake issue update then the ECU is now locked and requires bench unlock ... thing is if you refuse update then Toyota...
well obviously the OEM blanked off ones ingress some water (see pic with dirty marks under vent) .. but it does drain out.
BTW heat dispersal is not the reason that i wanted them .. mine was that a blanked off bonnet vent seemed a little pointless and i was fed up of everyone pointing this one...

this is a common BMW thing ... ( i had this on my m3/m4/i8 many times ) just use a stick to bend out dustshield and stone will fall out ... sometime driving in reverse for 20 feet shifts it.

I think the best advice is to adjust the screw (tighten slightly) ... if it makes a difference great ... if it comes back then note the postilion of the screw ... remove it/spring and bush and clean out the old grease .. regrease with FB-1 ( loads of it on rack/bush/spring) and reinsert ...
