So many recent rumors + leaks, new stuff, old stuff, a mix of both on just about everything about this car. Example) On Monday its a $50K Toyota Supra, Tuesday its a $65K BMW Supra, and on Friday it's a HYBRID. On Wednesday it has a DCT and manual transmission. On Sunday it has a ZF8 Auto ONLY...
^ I agree. If the specs are similar to the 370Z in terms of power and close to similar weight 3300lbs+, then they really need to price this thing closer to what the 370Z is going for.
We should set an event up: 'Early bird Supra shopping'.
1) We all go to different Toyota dealerships on the same day/weekend. I think enough of us on this board are spread across the US and other regions.
2) We take interest on the 86 and go for a test drive
3) After the test drive we say we...
Still too much IMO. Since we're still staying under the 400 power mark, Knock off $10 grand and I think it can catch interest.
Toyota 86 = $26K w/ 200 HP. Give us something that is twice the car of the 86 in power, performance, and looks. Then I think you can ask double the price = $52k Supra???
After reading this and what everyone has to say, my response is mutual. Hopefully it's not true.
A NEW Supra badge did catch my interest though! Although, I would not mind the MKIV Supra badge either.
I'm really hoping we see the real deal before the year ends. LA auto show in November would be nice! They'll still have time after that to keep on testing it. Its just been time for them to show the world what this new Supra is all about.
Dealerships must not like you very much :D. I say this because I'm usually the same way when it comes to negotiating cars. The key is not being afraid to walk away.
Dealerships will add mark ups to this car up!!! Their goal is to milk as much money as they can from a car. They will use hype and...
I want to see it come in at the 400+HP/TQ mark. BUT I wouldn't mind it coming in at 385 HP/TQ or so long as the price tag is reasonable enough....let's say starting at $45k :hmm: which is a $20k price jump from the 86.
^ yeah but there's also a 911 spotted at the 1:23+ mark. It's believed these mules are running around with the B58/S58 engine(s) at that time especially. It would be crazy if Toyota has some of these themselves running around against their developed engine (M2/3 like car with a lighter chasis vs...
Wouldn't be a bad way of bringing the Supra back:
New inline 6 + Sweet looking car + 400+HP/400+lb-ft + good weight + $50-55K price tag (one can only dream of a manual OPTION )
While I do agree that they should've built this all themselves, I'm still skeptical on what the Toyota version will have under the hood. From the interviews with both BMW and Toyota it doesn't sound like these will share the same exact engines + specs comparing it to the BRZ + 86 relationship...
^ It wouldn't surprise me. The LFA, LC500, RC-F, GS-F, IS-F are all using non DCT transmissions so if they can't get the DCT for it I'm sure Toyota is a fan of the ZF8 so no biggie for them.
Although no manual and no DCT may have some really upset.
That could be the case but then again they have models in Japan and in the US they are also testing which could have the Toyota developed engine. A majority of the pics and videos seen are the mules BMW is running around with. Who is to say those aren't running around with the actual B58/S58 the...
My thoughts exactly. You'd probably lose your warranty #1. And who knows what your looking at $$$ to do this swap not to mention the wiring harness/ECU dilemma to try and make everything work like it came like that from the factory depending on what Toyota brings out on this car. Not saying it...
For all we know it could be an entire new engine with a BMW base which will allow Toyota to make both an NA and Turbo version. This engine has been tight lipped from the start besides the testing of different BMW engines in the first few set of mules. The only confirmation we have today from Tada...
The base model could be a lift back, while the top trim could be like the LFA where the rear glass pops up due to the retractable spoiler (perhaps :dunno:)
When the designer's designed the FT-1 they did it with the intention of the car having 'wrap around glass' which I'm assuming will be passed on to the Supra production car. The R35 has this.
