370Z -- heavy pig -- is approaching a 10 year life-cycle, GT-R is also long in the tooth, over 10 years now and both have no successor in sight. Do you think Nissan will replace both? They never made the 240Z and cancelled the IDx (Toyobaru competitor). Will NIssan accept not having any...
Just for reference in France, and I remind you the Audi TT/-S/-RS Coupe, 2+2 Seats, AWD, not really light is basically a modified VW Golf.
€ 47K for a 230 PS TT
€ 60K for a 310 PS TT-S
€ 75K for a 400 PS TT-RS
That is 60K for a 4 banger as you say. For this money you get a bespoke Alfa 4C or...
The Supra will be a nice car, after all the Z4 E86 is my favorite BMW, and that is what the Supra is, a BMW Z4 Coupe, that we unfortuntely did not get with the E89. Being a BMW, how about a B47 swap for high mileage 1200 km range performance?
I am in Europe, and would like to get a Honda CRX mk2. They are very rare here, not original and mostly modified, and still cost around € 5K for a wrecked piece. They have rust, so a lot of body work will be necessary. Wonder if getting an import from the US could be a better solution.
Every European, Japanese, American and now Korean and soon even Chinese carmaker can make a car like that. But if they do is another question, which is a definite no, at least the way their business case goes. Toyota? Not a chance for now, not even electric.
Probably Toyota's golden era in terms of sports cars, with the Celica, MR2, Supra, not to forget IS and GS.
You know the Alpine A110 weighs 2432 lbs and makes 249 HP?
That there at all is a manual is the most important thing. It means a swap is fairly easy. Any BMW 6MT from the N54/N55/S55/B58/S58(?) should bolt on. It also means there is all the other hardware and requirements necessary, like clutch pedal, shifter location etc....
Try converting a Lexus RC...
It is not the first time BMW and Toyota collaborate on engines, even if that is fairly recent and did not happen many times. North Americans might be unfamiliar with European diesel engines and its implication.
Toyota has been well known for making heavy duty diesel engines for trucks, and...
Have to agree with @HKz and @Noble713 .
The GT86 is not slow, because for those that is was slow, they made it fast. The light enthusiast will get a Golf GTI or Golf R with cosmetic mods.
Out of the box, the Z4/Supra is maybe not such a great bargain car (yet to be determined), but at least...
Hmm, that why many are so upset, because it get an unreliable BMW (euro) engine and all luxury stuff that adds weight and gives all the maintenance headaches. The Supra is a BMW Z4 with Toyota badge, like the GT86 is a Subaru BRZ with Toyota badge, like the Yaris is a Mazda 2 with Toyota badge...
I think the greatest complaint is the price. For BMW price you get Toyota badge. Z4 Coupe E86 is my favorite BMW. And here comes the second complaint: the new Z4 is ugly, packed with gizmos. If i wanted gizmos, I'd get a gizmo, whatever that is.
With such a hefty weight, and no transaxle, yes the Supra will have difficult time competing against a Porsche. The Supra ends up being a BMW 2/4 Series with only two seats, rather than a baby LFA with FI I6. The Supra should actually be faster than the LFA. (I know fast cars a useless and...
