I’m surprised (and jealous) you managed to find a BMW dealer willing to service the Supra. I originally thought it would be great, till my buddy and I tried plugging the BMW diagnostics program on the Supra, and it blocked access (after some initial info started scanning). Then I realised they...
if the dealer has had a few Supras in by now, oil change should be cake. But shit happens, and sadly, does happen at all dealers. Toyota, bmw , etc. But fact is, Toyota mechanics are simply not as experienced with this bmyota, versus a bmw technician. So service recovery is key, cos you never...
the logs may help in conjunction with a good BMW indy workshop, but they can’t be used for a warranty claim. At least that’s what I understand - Toyota still has to get the dealer to run their specified tests and submit the results.
But the external logs can be used to narrow down your issue and...
my local dealer managed to open a case with HQ. After running some tests, they do not believe my issues to be mechanical, and requires a software change to address. I’ve been advised to wait for a software update eta Sept.
Totally. and Every time I think I’ve figured out how to anticipate the occurrences, it pops a new surprise. I now experienced it in Sport mode too, and after the hesitation had already occurred at the start of the drive.
so you’re able to trigger this occurrence on a warmed up car? Assuming you’re not gunning it right after a cold start…:D mine is typically after cold starts, but not limited to.
if what you observed can be replicated by the rest of us, the BMW dealer advice to the Z4 owner may be valid.
Fingers crossed you pick something up. It would come in handy when raising to Toyota for a warranty claim.
Ive been trying to observe different scenarios that the Z4 owners have described. Used to think it only happens from a complete standstill, but now have an incident of brief hesitation as...
i don’t think the F22 M240 is the exact same engine set up as the Supra, is it? Especially not the 2021- model year Supra? Considering the HPFP is different, etc. the N52 si engines had different oil consumption from the non -si versions, so lots of variables at play besides the fundamental...
does It typically happen within a short distance driving after start up? And what’s the driving style up to the occurrence? Eg: keeping RPMs low as engine and oil is warming up
I had been wondering why this hasn’t been reported by Z4 owners, but now found 2 accounts that indicate they do experience this too.
That helps convince me that the HPFP could be the culprit since it’s a new part for the Z4 and Supra.
This is only for those who experience this hesitation without...
No, it’s not coding with BimmerCode. It’s a manual override setting via BimmerLink. Meaning you have to select if you want the valve to be open, closed or on auto (default program). And BimmerLink has to be activ for it to apply.
Once you disconnect BimmerLink, the setting returns to the...
as the video points out, the AU model has a different active exhaust valve set up. I believe EU cars as well (there is a thread in the Europe sub group).
The valve is closed on cold start, till the car is warmed up and revs settle. Then the valve opens. I am guessing the valve may close under...
be careful mashing the pedal. From my experience, power resumes after about 1.5-2 seconds, and you don’t have to give it more gas to get it going.
From my BimmerLink logs, the fuel pressure stays low for that moment, regardless of the pedal angle.
