  1. Measuring Engine Oil Level | Continuously Fails at 21%

Understand on the oil consumption bit. Yours does sound on the high side, but as long as Toyota has it on record and you monitor it till it’s fully broken in (10k km), you are still covered by warranty and safe. Also, who knows if there is a related issue causing this measurement problem too...
  2. Measuring Engine Oil Level | Continuously Fails at 21%

The claim about the measurement failing due to oil temps over 90deg celsius doesn’t make sense. bmw oil measurements are done when oil has warmed up. I have run the measurement job several times while the oil temps are above 100deg cel (using bimmerlink to read the temp sensors). But dealer...
  3. BMW oem Steering wheel

he didn’t use a G29 M sport wheel? any specifics as to which G series wheel he tested? Thanks
  4. Official Oil consumption thread: Car excessively burning oil?

Your Warranty is 3 Years, right? If there really is a problem, @32bitsofGil would be covered for a new motor anyway. Many of us don’t have oil consumption issues with the oem spec oil, so there’s no reason to think that a 30 weight oil is the only solution. his oil consumption is on the high...
  5. Exhaust flap not closing

my supra has the exos Valve open when the car is not started. i used to have the BimmerLink exos override control set to “Open” till I realized the comfort mode leaves it open sometimes anyway. Then I figured the system knows when to open it for more sound, and when it’s more beneficial to...
  6. Exhaust flap not closing

Yup, normal for our spec. Can’t compare to the US spec which is on different emissions standards. Based on the video, looks like their comfort mode exhaust setup is louder than ours, so the valve is configured to stay closed. I think those who have the non-US spec with OPF (2021 onwards?), the...
  7. Exhaust flap not closing

I noticed the exhaust flap is open on my car while in comfort/normal mode as well. I realized this after clicking on the open button via bimmerlink, and noticed it didn’t change the exhaust sound levels while in idle. However, on cold starts in normal mode, there is a noticeable click noise...
  8. Throttle hesitation

i just had it happen to me again today. At a Uturn on a busy road… I suddenly had no power as cars were closing in on me. mine typically occurs within the first 500m of driving after startup, cold or warm starts, dry roads. Only once it occurred twice in the same drive. Both hesitations within...
  9. poor service before I buy is this what to expect

i vote cayman too. The supra is a great car, but the dealers mostly don’t know how to manage owner’s expectations. And if the sales guy pissed you off, wait till you deal with after sales.
  10. poor service before I buy is this what to expect

should also consider that this is really a BMW with Toyota badges on. My experience is that after sales typically struggle troubleshooting the car. Understandable that the techs need more help, but doesnt seem like Toyota has a good support model with BMW. And the frustration shows in the...
  11. Throttle hesitation

I believe that’s normal if you’re driving in slippery conditions. Not the same as the hesitation on dry roads.
  12. Wouldnt Rev after starting

For the benefit of other members with throttle hesitation issues : i haven’t seen anyone else say this behaviour is normal. no one at the dealership has tried to claim what I experienced in my car is normal either. I have run sensor readings and it shows that the pedal has been depressed but...
  13. Sport Plus mode activated but benefits?

did you skip the Body Domain Controller coding step? I did that once to avoid adding the sport plus program in the main menu.
  14. Battery charger placement

I have the MXS 5.0 model - it automatically cycles thru the charging stages depending on the battery charge level and mode selected. I just select the AGM mode for simple maintenance and leave it till it hits stage 7 or I want to lock up the car.
  15. Brand of Windshield Washer Fluid?

I used to get the wiper fluid from BMW’s natural range and mix with distilled water, till the line got discontinued. I just bought some Sonax wiper concentrate. I recall Sonax used to be the oem supplier for BMW’s car care range. Figured can’t go wrong with respect to “bmw compatibility”.
  16. Realign gas cap????

Does anyone notice that these gas cap covers seem to push against the fuel door when you close it? Someone pointed out to me that the fuel door doesn’t sit exactly flush with the panel, when closed.
  17. Throttle hesitation

i know the usual instinct is to give it more gas or step on the brakes. My first instinct is to stop the car. But now that I can almost anticipate when it will happen, if traffic permits, I hold on the gas and the power kicks back in in 2 seconds. I don’t think it necessarily needs more pedal...
  18. Throttle hesitation

Question to those who believe their throttle hesitation is not due to slippery roads and TC - Did it start before or after the brake safety recall? Mine started after the safety recall. I also have run a log on my car, and during the momentary throttle hesitation, I observed that the RPM drops...
  19. Exterior/Side Mirror Positions Not Saved with Seat Memory?

IIRC, the seat memory settings weren’t wiped after my recall session, but the coding i had for 1) start stop memory and 2) for comfort plus driving mode were lost. The memory short cut buttons were also wiped. So you will prob see all the prior BimmerCode changes reverted on collection.
  20. Throttle hesitation

Interesting to hear you get this in sport mode. As you mention, you don’t need to press down much to get going typically. I’ve only encountered this in comfort/comfort+ mode. Has anyone picked up codes via the obd2?
