Not sure about the JB4, but leaving my OBDLink CX plugged in before locking the door does set off the car alarm if I have an active app connection. Bimmerlink is always the culprit for me cos I forget to disconnect my iphone, and the CX Bluetooth range is too damn good.
if you use the OBDLink...
The reality is, the guys trying to sell the cars aren’t the same guys who handle your after sales service.
From my experience, the sales guys love it when the car is modded and gets all that attention. Free advertising for them, yay! but they aren’t the ones deciding on recalls or warranty...
i never considered this notched design because of how bulky it looks. I’d personally prefer the notch design with a slimmer profile spoiler like the V1.
And you're on the recommended 0w-20 oil, right? Your observations look promising, especially noting you’ve crossed the 10,000km mark and oil consumption should have stabilized.
I probably did get a lemon, and very true - you get that with any manufacturer. I’ve just had much better experience with BMW warranty claims. Two separate instances of engine replacement due to excessive vibration.
On the mazda, they had me do all kinds of testing and the local distributor...
I briefly switched to a Mazda after a string of BMWs, thinking i was so smart to trade for JDM reliability. Ended up with an SUV that vibrates like a massage chair, and a manufacturer who eventually shrugged and said that’s how it is.
Was relieved to get back into a “BMW”. Never been so happy...
I practice exactly that. Drive in Normal mode till engine oil reaches 95C, keeping revs below 2500rpm. That way all the components get warmed up. I wait for the initial cold start high rev idle to settle, then set off.
I think you could drive moderately in sport mode, but I guess also depends...
Be careful topping up without the alert.
I have seen the oil measurement fluctuate between markers. Mine alternated between 3/4 and 1/2 before it later stabilized at 1/2. It’s not very precise. So if you add oil before the computer calls for it, you run risk of overfill.
Did you get a second “low oil alert”, and decide to add half a quart to observe the measurement results? One quart at 3600 miles doesn’t sound too bad, imho. Second alert at 4200mi does seem odd.
this statement makes sense, and generally is understood to be the case with sustained high RPMs ...
if they were short on the oil change, could explain both the incidents. Since the oil measurement isn’t super precise, perhaps the change was short from “true full” by more than 1 quart in the first place.
i plan to run the oil measurement every 500km after the last oil change, to see how soon...
this measurement was taken 200 miles after you topped up a quart? Seems excessive. Is there any chance that last oil change wasn’t topped up properly in the first place? Cos a low oil warning just 500 miles after a full oil change is also pretty crazy.
i managed to get them in place without removing the wheels, and I did them from top to bottom. Someone else here recommended starting from the bottom, cos you can swing the guards out easily while the space is more confined at the bottom.
How exactly are the spacers not fitting for your...
I had the same issue, then I saved the screens by going back to the menu selection. Eg: to save Tyre pressure monitoring, go back one step from the screen itself to the menu option and set the button then.
If you can’t figure it Dm me and I’ll send you some pics as reference.
oh that’s odd - when I hit the sport button, I get the sport individual screen I posted. Second consecutive press puts me back into normal , and the screen also changes to display that
but I recall that this screen can be disabled. For my car, it’s enabled by default. Note that I’ve enabled...
Think that’s due to the HU coding. Mine were also erased but I could manually reinstate.
When I recently tried to revert the BDC coding manually (not via backup), my memory buttons were intact.
So I’ve been trying to revert my BDC coding to achieve what you described... but I got stuck with the Sport plus profile showing on the screen, but it’s not selectable. (See pic)
sport plus options still available on my sport individual config page.
@Evolution - do you only see “Individual”...
I believe the transmission and mappings are the same for both the 3L and 2L.
I thought maybe the throttle contributes to it, but I’ve tried all types of scenarios. Letting it coast to a halt, relatively firm braking... it seems so random.
